The PvXwiki community finds this to be an excellent build.

If you disagree with this rating, please discuss it on the build's talk page.

This build has been designed for the following use:

This build utilizes the amazing energy management from the newly buffed Lyssa´s Aura in combination with Illusion Magic and Mantra of Persistence to spam longlasting degeneration while strongly draining/denying energy on the opposing healer to create a very versatile Mesmer build.

Attributes and Skills

<pvxbig> [build prof=Mes/any Ins=12+1+1 Ill=10+1 Fas=8+1][Conjure Nightmare][Optional][Ether Phantom][Drain Delusions][Ether Lord][Lyssa's Aura][Mantra of Persistence][Resurrection Signet][/build] </pvxbig>

Equipment

  • A head piece with +1 on Inspiration Magic, and small runes on the attributes in use.
  • Full Survivor armor, and a Superior Vigor rune.
  • Defensive Sets and a staff on Inspiration with +60 life and 20% HCT will do.
  • A 40/40 set is not really needed due to the low recharge/casting time of the spells in use. If you changed the skill bar a 40/40 set might be handy, otherwise bring another Shield Set instead.

Usage

  • In the beginning of the fight, cast Lyssa´s Aura and Mantra of Persistence. Keep up the Mantra all the time, and if Lyssa´s Aura gets stripped, recast it as soon as possible.
  • Now begin spamming Conjure Nightmare and Conjure Phantasm all over the enemy team. Due to the Mantra, they will last 18 seconds, pressuring the enemy healer with -10 life degeneration on his team mates.
  • While spamming the degeneration, use your energy denial on either the enemy healer (this is recommended) or, if there is none, on other targets which rely on energy such as rangers or caster classes. Do this by casting Ether Phantom and immediately remove it with Drain Delusions. The enemy will lose 10 energy and you will have a net gain of 10.
  • Ether Lord is a very mighty energy denial and due to Lyssa´s Aura´s amazing energy management, you can use it very often and don't really have to wait until energy drops to 5. The 10 seconds of +10 energy regeneration you get from both Lyssa´s Aura and Ether Lord will bump up the energy you lost in a flash. Only just resurrected foes usually don´t have much energy to start with again, so using Ether Lord to hinder them at effectively entering the fight again is a good idea.
  • Never stop spamming you degeneration!

Counters

  • General caster hate.
  • Getting disenchanted all the time will slow you down, but due to your other energy managing skills you will still be able to hex your enemies.
  • The Regenerator

Variants

You can change Ether Lord to another skill of your choice, some possibilities are:

  • Signet of Humility which is very powerful at Insp 14.
  • Spirit of Failure or Spirit Shackles or skills like Clumsiness to annoy melees.
  • An enchantment removal such as Feedback or Drain Enchantment.
  • Ether Feast for a very strong self heal while also draining energy.
  • Any other skill you want to try, energy won´t be a problem anyways as long as you don't take Meteor Shower...
  • Another interesting option would also be Discharge Enchantment. In combination with your hexes and your energy management, you will be able to strip enchantments rapidly.
  • You can bring Web of Disruption instead of Ether Phantom to have a strong two-times interrupt in combination with Drain Delusions while still gaining 10 energy.
  • If you want to enhance your shutdown abilities rather than dealing damage, you can change Mantra of Persistence to another disabling/hindering skill of your choice, for example Signet of Humility. This will shorten your damage output though.
  • Phantom Pain or Accumulated Pain if you want a Deep Wound. You can "control" the impact of the DW from Phantom Pain by using Drain Delusions.
  • If you want high defenses, use Distortion instead of the Mantra as a mighty blocking stance you can nearly keep up.
  • Imagined Burden, Ethereal Burden, and Kitah's Burden are all viable snaring skills.
