This build utilizes the amazing energy management from Lyssa´s Aura in combination with Illusion Magic and Mantra of Persistence to spam longlasting degeneration while strongly draining/denying energy on the opposing healer to create a very versatile Mesmer build.
Attributes and Skills
<pvxbig> [build prof=Mes/any Ins=12+1+1 Ill=10+1 Fas=8+1][Conjure Nightmare][Optional][Ether Phantom][Drain Delusions][Ether Lord][Lyssa's Aura][Mantra of Persistence][Resurrection Signet][/build] </pvxbig>
Equipment
- A head piece with +1 on Inspiration Magic, and small runes on the attributes in use.
- Full Survivor armor, and a Superior Vigor rune.
- Defensive Sets and a staff on Inspiration with +60 life and 20% HCT will do.
- A 40/40 set on inspiration magic is very handy when using ether lord and in the beginning of the fight to cast lyssa´s aura and if it gets stripped, the halved recharge can bring it up again quickly.
Usage
- In the beginning of the fight, cast Lyssa´s Aura and Mantra of Persistence. Keep up the Mantra all the time, and if Lyssa´s Aura gets stripped, recast it as soon as possible.
- Spam Conjure Nightmare (and Conjure Phantasm if you take it along) all over the enemy team. Due to the Mantra, both hexes will last 18 seconds, pressuring the enemy healer with -8 or -10 health degeneration on his team mates.
- While spamming the degeneration, use your energy denial on either the enemy healer or other energy-reliant priority targets. Do this by casting Ether Phantom and immediately remove it with Drain Delusions. The enemy will lose 10 energy and you will have a net gain of 10 energy.
- Ether Lord is a very strong energy denial and due to Lyssa´s Aura´s amazing energy management, you can use it often, even when you are at high energy levels. The 10 seconds of +10 energy regeneration you get from both Lyssa´s Aura and Ether Lord will bump up the energy you lost in a flash. Just resurrected foes usually don´t have much energy, so using Ether Lord to hinder them at effectively entering the fight again is a good idea.
- Never stop spamming your degeneration!
Counters
- General caster hate.
- Getting disenchanted all the time will slow you down, but due to your other energy managing skills you will still be able to hex your enemies.
- The Degenerator's arch rival, The Regenerator
Variants
For filling the optional slot or in place of any other non-elite skill, some possibilities are:
- Conjure Phantasm or Shrinking Armor to be able to spread degeneration on ALL opponents or to cover Conjure Nightmare.
- Signet of Humility for general annoyance.
- Spirit of Failure, Spirit Shackles or Clumsiness to annoy attackers. Soothing Images will neutralize adrenaline users.
- An enchantment removal such as Feedback or Discharge Enchantment. The hexes in the build would allow for Discharge Enchantment to rapidly remove enchantments.
- Ether Feast for a self heal that also drains energy.
- You can bring Web of Disruption for a double interrupt when paired with Drain Delusions.
- Phantom Pain or Accumulated Pain if you want a Deep Wound. Phantom Pain's DW can be timed through the use of Drain Delusions.
- In place of Mantra of Persistance, Distortion can serve as a powerful blocking stance that is almost maintainable. Its energy loss is not a problem with Lyssa's Aura.
- Imagined Burden, Ethereal Burden, and Kitah's Burden to snare for long periods in combination with Mantra of Persistance.
- A Hard Rezz such as Flesh of my Flesh or Death Pact Signet
- Rend Enchantments as a spike assist
