The PvXwiki community finds this to be an excellent build. If you disagree with this rating, please discuss it on the build's talk page. This build has been designed for the following use: |
This build is part of the current PvE meta. Remove this tag if it is no longer used in the current PvE meta. |
This Dual monk build using a 600 monk and smiter can do both Normal Mode and Hard Mode in The Underworld. It is capable of clearing the Labyrinth, Ice Wastes, Forgotten Vale, Twin Serpent Mountains as well as most of the Chaos Planes, Bones Pits and Spawning Pools.
Team Composition
600 Monk
Attributes and Skills
<pvxbig> [build name="600 monk" prof=monk/any protec=12+1+1 divine=12+1][shield of absorption][spirit bond][protective spirit][spell breaker][optional][blessed aura][balthazars spirit][essence bond][/build] </pvxbig>
- Inexperienced players are advised to take Blessed Signet for energy management.
- If having trouble with interrupting take Ancestor's Visage or Sympathetic Visage. Best is Mantra of Resolve to take out their interrupt skills. (Mesmer Secondary)
- More experienced players are advised to take Frenzy(Warrior Secondary)for more damage output.
- Another option is to use Arcane Echo and another Headgear with Divine Favor 1+3 so spell breaker will not run out and the quest Servants of Grenth can be done. (Spawning a good amount of Terrorweb Dryders)
Equipment
- Lowest Level AL(such as starter armor)
- Any head armor with the +1 Protection Prayers upgrade and also a Minor Rune of Protection Prayers and Minor Rune of Divine Favor.
- Highest affordable Vigor Rune with the last 2 spots filled with Runes of Vitae.
- All armor pieces equipped with Survivor Insignias.
- Any weapon set with 20% longer enchantment mod and additional health
Usage
- Cast Blessed Aura, Balthazar's Spirit and Essence Bond and maintain them.
- Use Blessed Signet whenever energy is needed, energy should be around 35 before attempting to engage any monsters.
- Before entering into battle cast Spell Breaker, Protective Spirit, Spirit Bond and Shield of Absorption. Always keep Protective Spirit and Frenzy (if taking Warrior secondary) on. A second before SoA ends cast Spirit Bond, followed by SoA after another second (to avoid interruption). Repeat cycle until monsters have died.
- When facing coldfires, only use Protective Spirit and SoA as Spirit Bond will not give you any extra health. It is also recommended to keep spell breaker on as much as possible.
- When facing Charged Blacknesses wait until they exhaustion themselves to near energyless. Wait for them to kill themselves.
- When facing Obsidian Behemoths only maintain Balthazar's Spirit, Essence Bond, Protective Spirit, and Spirit Bond.(Remember to cycle shooting them with staff to interrupt Healing Spring for a faster kill)
- In the Chaos Planes after Spell Breaker has run out cast only Spirit Bond when energy permits.
Notes
- Make sure to pull the Smite Crawlers away from the Coldfires. If you don't, you will probably die because of the Coldfires using Maelstrom to interupt you and drain all your energy and too many attacks at once.
- If you see a huge mob, try to pull some of them. The 600 Monk can only endure 10 attacks over 60dmg in 2 seconds. If they extend over 10 attacks, they will kill you.
- Try to take on 3 Coldfires at once. It is possible to do 6 at a time, but not recommended.
- Keep Spell Breaker up at all times during battle if possible. If a Nightmare pops up(during battle), it will strip all your enchantments and if you do survive, you will have no damage enchantments and you will run out of energy.
- Be aware that Bladed Attaxes and Grasping can interupt. Grasping also drains some of your energy.
- If you see a Nightmare(pops from ground)(Out of Battle) and it strips your enchantments, immediately activate Protective Spirit and Spirit Bond. Then get out your Divine Favor or Protective Prayers wand and keep firing till it dies.
- It is recommended for the 600 to advance to the Smites after the beginning of the Underworld.
Smiter Monk
Attributes and Skills
<pvxbig> [build name="smiter monk" prof=monk/necromancer smitin=12+1+3 protec=12+3 bloodmagic=3][blessed signet@0][purge signet][unyielding aura][blood ritual][vital blessing][life attunement][holy wrath][retribution][/build] </pvxbig>
- Bring BiP and Rebirth
- Purge Signet is nice to remove bleeding and deep wound after an encounter with creatures such as Bladed Aatxes.
Equipment
- Any armor, preferably high energy
- It is also best to bring a headpiece with +1 Protection Prayers as well. If you put it on while casting the protection enchantments, it will make the enchantments with 16 Protection Prayers.
Usage
- Cast Vital Blessing, Life Attunement, Retribution and Holy Wrath on 600 monk. Stay back and let the monk do the rest.
- Use purge signet to remove any conditions the 600 is suffering after an encounter.
- BIP the 600 if requested or after you resurrect him with rebirth to speed up the enchantment process.
- Dying whilst using this build is highly unlikely when properly executed; the smiter should always remain half a minimap distance or more away from the 600 Monk. The 600 Monk should have no problems tanking, but just in case, Rebirth is handy if the 600 monk should die.
Variants
Hero Variant
This build works well with a Smiter Hero. Usage, armor and skills are identical to the above. Here are some tips:
- It is highly recommended to have the hero run all smiting signets rather than the Shield of Judgment variant.
- Keep your Hero in Avoid Combat mode at all times.
- Disable all the hero's enchantments, so they will be maintained.
- Cast all of the enchantments on yourself, always keep the hero flagged a good distance away from the fight because of monsters who run and heal for a bit. But remember keep within distance of enchantments.
- When fighting against Coldfire Nights or Mindblade Spectres, keep the hero in Avoid Combat and carry out the cycle chosen above. It can be tricky to control your enchantments and your hero's position.
Mesmer Smiter
Attributes and Skills
<pvxbig> [build prof=Me/Mo name="Mesmer Smite" fas=12 ill=12+1+3][Signet of Illusions][Purge Signet][Optional][Rebirth][Life Attunement@16][Vital Blessing@16][Retribution@16][Holy Wrath@16][/build] </pvxbig>
Equipment
- Any armor, preferably high energy.
- Headpiece and Sup. illusion rune.
Usage
- Cast Signet of Illusions until all 4 enchantments are maintained on the 600.
- Use purge signet to remove any conditions the 600 is suffering after an encounter.
