The burning should kill them. The speed boost isn't needed so Flame burst might help out or even inferno.--GatessMoebius Strike IconThe Gates Assassin 21:09, 22 May 2008 (EDT)
Kills most of them, already got a shitload of Assassin tomes and some golds! Boss is a bit of a pain though. :) Selket Shadowdancer 21:12, 22 May 2008 (EDT)

The old build worked, and this is much slower. Still, if you want to use this, i'd swap attunement for intensity and FDH for inferno.

Shadow Form in UW (now it's buffed)

Could replace the Obs tank? Mazza558 16:42, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

I don't see why not. As long as the enemies don't carry skills that go through shadow form or skills that can remove it it should be perfectly fine.--GatessMoebius Strike IconThe Gates Assassin 18:23, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
AFAIK no proph skills can remove "impossible" enchantments like SB, OF and VoS. Sebsig seb2winrar (ʞ1ɐʇ) 18:25, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
No but there are skills in UW and FoW that can do damage through Shadow Form. Selket Shadowdancer 18:59, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
Smite Hex on the smites, Zealot's fire on Shadow monks, riposte on Aatxes if you're dumb enough to hit them with melee, Shock on several baddies, and nature's renewal, though that's less of an issue after the buff.--Reason.decrystallized 20:56, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
Then take Dark escape + Feigned.--GatessMoebius Strike IconThe Gates Assassin 21:04, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
If you was doing say 5 man fow (with bonder, healer etc) I would imagine you would be just fine anyway. Selket Shadowdancer 21:22, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
Then I guess you're all set. the GoS -> DP -> SF combo kicks the Arcane Echo chain in the balls--all you need is five optional skills (heals, damage, utility, and/or e-management) and you can pretty much tank anywhere the mobs don't have Chillblains. Even untargeted AoE can get either healed or bonded--or you could just take Armor of Earth and Stoneflesh for kicks and giggles. DoA, much?--Reason.decrystallized 22:49, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

The builds aren't the same. Archive the other one.--GatessMoebius Strike IconThe Gates Assassin 19:09, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

I put them up ecause while they're not identical they're very similar, it didn't warrent a WELL tag on either build, so a merge made the msot sense, baring in mind this build was made in response to it's recent Buff in PvE while the other one was made before they even announced it as well....~PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 20:05, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
Exactly, that means the other one is obsolete in comparison. Aka Archive.--GatessMoebius Strike IconThe Gates Assassin 20:35, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

Caltrops for Flame Djinns Haste is great for reducing scatter on HM. Selket Shadowdancer 20:18, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

Tested it?--GatessMoebius Strike IconThe Gates Assassin 20:45, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
Yes, Caltrops won't reach out to all of them unless you settle aggro properly though. You'll still get a little scatter, mainly the ones on the outside of the settled mob, but alot less scatter than without some form of AoE snare when farming on HM. Selket Shadowdancer 20:48, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
=/ The burning always kills them ALL for me.--GatessMoebius Strike IconThe Gates Assassin 20:50, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
Same, but I find when using Caltrops I kill more because less run off out of the AoE. Selket Shadowdancer 21:23, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

While were under a "variants" heading, might i suggest changing firestorm for lava font? does more dmg in less time, killing the raptors before they scatter. this would make drops closer and easier to find. i would know, ive tested this variant extensively (like, 4 times or something). 18:27, 31 May 2008 (EDT)

Fire magic vs Earth Magic

Been playing around wih a Sliver Armour version and have found that while its a bit slower, you have a much higher chance of success killing everything in the cave (including the boss) and get a much better drop rate on HM.

As you can see everything in the cave was killed including the boss and got a couple of golds from the run aswell. The Conch was R9! :D Selket Shadowdancer 09:12, 24 May 2008 (EDT)

Been getting more Lockpicks per run now and tomes too, the gold drop rate using Sliver Armour has been about two per run on average since I switched to using it. Changed Caltrops for Grasping Earth for a much better AoE snare too. Selket Shadowdancer 10:14, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
For the lock picks-check the weekend event....~PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 13:39, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
Yeah, I'm aware of that, the point being that with the other build drop rates were shockingly bad. My drops with the Sliver version have been consistent all day today, and not just with Lockpicks but golds etc too. Selket Shadowdancer 14:18, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
Yeah, the game is programmed to give fewer drops per mob when multiple mobs die at once, or so i've heard, and it lines up with my observations.--Reason.decrystallized 14:23, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
Which means sadly, that although this does work, it is inferior to a Sliver farmer on those grounds alone. Sorry Gates. Selket Shadowdancer 14:26, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
Can't cite anything, but I'm PRETTY sure that myth was dispelled. --NYC Elite 14:29, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
Well consider this... I used the Fire Magic build all last night, before and after the event began, and the drop rate was bad. I was getting roughly 3-4 drops a run at the most, only got 1 (normal) tome all night, and no golds or lockpicks etc. I've been running the Earth Magic build all day today and have been getting two golds nearly every run at least half of which are r9, lockpicks left right and centre, a black dye, and plenty of other junk. I would hardly call it a myth. Lastly with the Fire Magic build you can't kill the boss, meaning you can't kill all of the Raptors. With the Earth magic build you can kill the boss first then concentrate on the mob. Selket Shadowdancer 14:34, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
That myth WAS dispelled. Someone took a Necro boss farmer and killed everything in an area and a monk 55 that killed everything at once. They had about equal drops. When one got 2 or three drops form one mob the other might have gotten the same or nothing at all.
Also when I first used Fire magic, no lie here, 4 golds. Second run 2 golds. Third -seventhish I got ZERO. It's luck. I also tried Earth as well and the same thing happened, either I got really lucky or I didn't. they both work the same, but one is faster and one gets the boss as well. So in the end, this should stay.--GatessMoebius Strike IconThe Gates Assassin 19:15, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
I'd really like to see the whole cave cleared with this on HM. Selket Shadowdancer 05:52, 25 May 2008 (EDT)

(resetting indent) ah, okay. guess i was wrong.--Reason.decrystallized 19:33, 24 May 2008 (EDT)

There are enough of these that already work. We need to just make a page of ALL the raptor farming builds and just put them there. this is getting ridiculous.-- 13:47, 25 May 2008 (EDT)

...Just archive the other one... There's only 2 specific raptor farmers.--GatessMoebius Strike IconThe Gates Assassin 13:59, 25 May 2008 (EDT)
Farming 2 days for each build (sliver armor vs Fire nuking) I can confirm that the drop rate is almost exactly equal, with sliver armor coming out on top for asuran points, and fire magic for drops (oddly?) ICYFIFTYFIVE 15:51, 31 May 2008 (EDT)
actually its not so odd. the sliver version kills the boss doesnt it? bosses give more asura points. 18:27, 31 May 2008 (EDT)
Lol he was saying it was odd that fire magic dropped better, not that asura gave more points xD--GatessMoebius Strike IconThe Gates Assassin 23:50, 31 May 2008 (EDT)

Would this work as E/A

Obviously im having a hard time getting the runes, and im wondering will this build work E/A? I know shadow form will have a longer recharge, but if you have a sup in fire or earth will you be able to kill the raptors faster? not to mention higher energy so you're able to spam more. --Flionheart 17:02, 8 June 2008 (EDT)

no, at 12 shadow arts SF lasts 25 seconds, with a 20% longer enchant mod it lasts 30 seconds, so unles you can cast instantly there's no way, unles you can increase the duration more, or reduce the recharge more (so if you took the consumable that reduces recharge times, but that would be very wasteful....)~PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 17:30, 8 June 2008 (EDT)
Well, the recharge is already being reduced by 50%, which if I'm not mistaken, is the maximum. -Mike 19:07, 8 June 2008 (EDT)

Is there anywhere else I can use this build? or a variation of it? Or has it been designed very specifically for raptor nestlings? =[

"Build:A/E Shadow Form Raptor Farm" => I would say yeh. – Sazzy 06:37, 10 August 2008 (EDT)

i dont much appreciate the sarcastic tone but thanks anyway.

With the damage reduction of SF reduced to 33%, might it be time to unarchive this build? I haven't tested it since, but I'd imagine it isn't too terrible. ··· Danny Does Drugs 08:40, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

E-management is alot harder with this build than with other variants now that SF duration has been reduced once again. — DarK 08:44, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
