I've been testing and using this build. Through many many consecutive runs I have found that Spirit Of Failure, Auspicious, channeling are all just excessive. Just take energy Tap, another skill. Using just Deadly, SF, Shroud, DC, Energy Tap, and Ether Nightmare, CoP its so easy. Maybe put a skill in too speed up times? I have it down to just a little over a minute per run. Just thought I should maybe share this bit of info. Mini Norn

I used a build similar to this to farm ectos, in alternative to the A/E build, (i think its faster), but i used drain enchantments for e-management (always leave a dryder to the end, and its easy) along with channeling and shroud of distress, to maintain health. made a bad rune of 5 mins (SS7, Lux6)--SunBender 22:32, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Imo, go Mes primary, 12 Shadow Arts, 10+1+3 Inspiration, 8+1 Fast Casting. Still able to maintain Shadow Form, but you get faster casts, and more energy gain from AI. Or at least put a mes primary variant on the build page. + ℓγssάή [rage] 02:07, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

changed a few things

i chagned a few things making it better after some testing, siwth 16 shadow arts, shroud of distress still recharges on time for next usage, and when combined with auspicious give enough energy, energy tap is for back up as well, spirit of failure is now useless as attacks hit you, 25% chance is nothing. :) test the build now :) Lithril Ashwalker

yeah, ive been seeing peeps tell me that spirit of failure is better than energy tap...well ET recharges faster than spirit of failure,(but then they say you can cast SoF on 2 enemies) well...this is true even with a 40/40 set, but why screw with poercentages, its a pain on energy to cast it, why that and waste time casting stuff on enemies when you coulda had them dead already?

ET only gives a max of 12 energy every 22 seconds, i'm pretty sure SoF gives alot more than that, and you don't have to cast it every 22 seconds. --Samsig 23:09, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

yeah but its only 25% chance to miss on each foe with it on, and oyu can only cast SoF on 2 targets max, which will be 50% total spread out to being every 1:4 swings it will miss. when E.T you can get the energy then and there instantly.

not to mention,the energy it takes to cast SoF each time you have to wait to earn back for each miss of the enemies you caste dit on, with Energy Tap you only use 5 energy instead of 15 each time while casting SoF Lithril Ashwalker

AI+SoF is a better option imo. AI+SoF gives 27e. minus 20e required to cast them, you get a net of 7e. Same as Enery Tap. Plus, 25% chance to miss happens more often than you think. You start seeing +3e every now and then for 30 secs. If you watch the video carefully, I've gain +3e 16 times during the run. Beside e-management, SoF other purpose is to fuel CoP. Works fine in HM on the first group. 1-2 minutes, 3 min max.

Radiation Field

All you really need is zealous daggers and golden lotus strike. More than enough energy. Radiation field and ether and cry of pain plus the required skills to stay alive. Since none of the skills to kill with require any attribute points you can pretty much put everything left over in dagger mastery and critical strikes.

In the same time you do 6 runs in NM you only can make 4 in HM so after 20runs you save nearly 20min

i have also tryed this and imo this build should have been me/a to begin with as fast casting means a primary mesmer can do this the same as a sin only faster.

Yeah, I run it with Energy Tap & Drain Enchant. Auspicious only returns 3 energy when used with 10E skills. And channeling will place you so close that you'll scatter them (dryders and dream riders have strange AI). Drain/Etap is easier and works effectively. Dok 23:45, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

Nerf ?

It was "accidentally nerfed" or, more accurately, the critters were accidentally buffed, for a short while after the update on the 29th, but fixed with the 30th one.--DarkDark Morelia 13:20, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

auspacious incantation should be removed and spirit of failure should be replaced with e tap. Also the optional should be either mistrust or wandering eye. The attribute in the build needs to be changed domination needs to be raised and insperation brout down Dom should be at least at 8 and also with cop degeneration it is still possible to do this in HM. wandering eye and energy tap are in variants. you only do 25 damage max so anymore than 3 dom is a waste. You can't afford tab spamming wastrels with your energy unless you get lucky with sof. Also the update gave enemies regen in HM. all this was on the article page, do you know how to read jpuz. energy tap got nerfed to 30 seconds in the update so its crappy energy management. mistrust costs too much energy to use along with its long recharge, it won't save time even if you time at the end for banshees. you could say the same for watrels anyways.--Relyk talk 20:33, May 30, 2010 (UTC)

don't understand what you Are saying relyk. They have +3 health regeneration cop does 3-5health degen after so there heal is gone for 10second out of the 15 second recharge cop has. Then we use the wastrels on a target then another spending 10e And Dealing 50 damage to foes around you. Now you keep doing that after which you use e tap when low on energy after you get them to about 1/3 in health or close to half you use mistrust before SF ends (sith high Dom) after SF ends dream rider tries to cast on you And allways gets the first spell in since they are mesmers. Mistrust Will then interupt them and lash out a ton of damage without SF bringing it Down to 25 why is everyone acting S though we don't a Ready have e regen.......

You can spam CoP on recharge no problem, and you can dang near spam WW on recharge with some good kiting. The bigger problem with all of this talk is HM. Why? You like making your runs take twice as long for an occasional crappy proph's Gold item??? Beyond that, I still don't know how much I like WW here, adjacent sucks to group. With nearby, if you do it right, you can DC up there, walk away 2 feet, and start railing them right away. Brow0081 10:03, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

A/D Variant?

Was just testing the A/D perma.. decided to change a few things, came up with this

Attributes and Skills

IMO faster, but they can sometimes flee (whether it's avoidable or not?). Can be tweaked, but not much.. last time i tested i was tight with energy, but still got them all within 50-60 seconds along with epic piling. What do you guys think? /nosig

Okay, I've done 7 runs with this build, 4 ecto.. no flaws with correct usage, except as i said some scatter, if you pile them up correctly and close to the cliff then you'll get more or less all of them. Skills in order: 1,2,(pile up),3,5,6,7,7,4,5,7.... Repeat SF then 5,7... that should more or less kill them all. 3x sand shards... now you can actually watch their hp bars fall down. /nosig

the build works well just a few problems the massive aoe from 3 or just two sanshards cause the all of them to scatter. dream riders begin to scatter if you get near them. so there is always that problem but i did a few runs with it.works well better than nothing, this weastrals build has gotten annoying to me so i made a new build 30sec fast time. pm in game if you want to see it &^^--Jpuzimaki13 20:46, June 10, 2010 (UTC)

Hard mode.

Why won't anyone farm it anymore? I know +7 health regen but use daggers instead, 26 dmg spike every second does the job in hard mode. Builds:
