Definitely faster than P/Mo ver. Needs more heals. Jebuspachi-1-1.jpgMcPachirisu 22:16, 30 January 2009 (EST)

U dont want to heal. Healing fuels Grenths balance and isnt needed since ull gain most of ur health back waiting for dark aura to end. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 22:20, 30 January 2009 (EST)
^ and this assuredly will work.--IkimonoNeeds more ParagonMonk-Paragon-icon 22:34, 30 January 2009 (EST)
Aggroing doesnt always work, but its not worth taking a heal (except fall back) for the small chance that it wont work. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 22:40, 30 January 2009 (EST)
I don't think we really need builds for farming this because almost everything works. Hell, I've done it with only drunken master and ether nightmare. Imo, a guide would work better than builds. LifeLife Guardian-AoF 23:09, 30 January 2009 (EST)
I would have done a guide, but I dont think its a widely enough used build to warrant one. Also, has anyone been able to do this in HM well? Ive gotten a couple good aggros but theyre kinda random. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey [[User:Ressmonkey|'Ressmonkey'--Hyprodimus Prime 23:01, 12 February 2009 (EST)]] (talk) 11:03, 31 January 2009 (EST)
My buddy does it in HM for paragon...i cant get it to work for me though.--IkimonoNeeds more ParagonMonk-Paragon-icon 09:25, 1 February 2009 (EST)
Could you ask him what build he uses? I kinda wanna know if its just a different way to use any of the builds that already work or if its a totally different build. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 09:38, 1 February 2009 (EST)
It's the same build, but it takes better timing and positioning. Something I just haven't had the time to work out. I'd rather just do it in NM than to work HM down to a science. Also, these builds can do the first 2 waves, not just the first one.--IkimonoNeeds more ParagonMonk-Paragon-icon 11:35, 4 February 2009 (EST)
Well if it's supposed to do the first two waves in HM, where are the anti-KDs, a.k.a. protection against bull's strike and bull's charge? ICYFIFTYFIVE 03:40, 8 February 2009 (EST)

Ressmonkey you make the best farming builds! nuff said. 10:44, 14 February 2009 (EST) Wynne

a friend of mine used to do this in HM prob works as P/Me too. Dumbo Ranger-tango-icon-20 19:02, 8 February 2009 (EST)

This works for just about every prof except warriors and rangers. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 20:49, 8 February 2009 (EST)
I worked it out for ranger but i can`t pull them right in HM , works perfect in NM .King Herdox 03:27, 9 February 2009 (EST)
Me too, I can get them to the sweetspot, but then when I cast on them they run and when they come back, they start attacking.
I dont know how it works in HM cuz I havent been able to do it well. Apparently, it is possible to do it in HM. I would suggest that you keep trying at it if you want it to work. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 15:28, 13 February 2009 (EST)
Why would you be doing this farm for any reason other than farming the Stygian Gems? Theres no reason to do it HM, your just making life hard for yourself, you can get 2 or 3 gems a run sometimes in NM, your not gonna get anymore from doing it in HM there drop rate isn't effected by NM/HM. Not to mention HM may mean careful timing with your skill casting to avoid the HM AoE whereas you can just spam away in NM Bogusdude 12:10, November 21, 2009 (UTC)
Well, actually, since gems are gold items, they may have an increased drops rate in HM since golds drop more frequently in HM. This is not confirmed by anyone as far as I know because nobody has done sufficient testing on the subject (just speculation probably). I do think you are right that it is the same because gems are not the regular gold items and probably follow a different drop rate that is the same in NM/HM, but that is just speculation. --- Ressmonkey (talk) 14:27, November 21, 2009 (UTC)
Good point about them being gold, although i would add to the speculation that they follow the same principle as Rare Materials. I've done plenty of solo farming in City and Gloom in HM with various characters and builds and never had a gemstone drop rate off any of them where i get 3 gems off 1 mob (even much bigger mobs than this). And 2 or 3 gems from a single mob wasn't a 1 off from these guys and in NM. Even seems better than when i used to trap them back in the day where i was solo in NM and either 2 or 3 man team in HM, despite killing more mobs. Bogusdude 17:05, November 21, 2009 (UTC)

Drunken Master not needed

So whats with Drunken Master? You dont need it. Storm Djinn's Haste is readily available.--Hyprodimus Prime 23:25, 13 February 2009 (EST)

tbh i'm rather confused myself too, you don't need that skill at all. Fall Back is the only IMS you need...--IkimonoNeeds more ParagonMonk-Paragon-icon 23:26, 13 February 2009 (EST)
Storm Djinns has a cast and aftercast and requires attribute spending, while drunken master has none of that. Its preference tbh. And a IMS isnt needed, but it helps reduce the amount of time that it takes to get to the NPCs, making the run faster. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 11:03, 14 February 2009 (EST)

windborn speed/channeling

if u use windborn speed and channeling , u will have no energy problems at all +arcane echo to just spamm as much as u want ... fall back and "can't touch this" really aren't needed , i never needed it =P well at least not in NM

Please sign by using ~~~~. NM doesn't need it because it's a fucking kiddy pool. I can use a wammo in NM and still win. --Slurry. 17:14, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
I agree with the channeling, but could this work with RoJ monk? Playing Is Srs Bsns 16:31, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Ive tried RoJ, and for some reason it causes scatter sometimes (same way Mark or Rodgort before SF sometimes causes scatter in HM). Otherwise, just not as fast as other options. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 17:19, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Tips for practicing

This farm can be a little tricky to get the hang of when you first try it. Even running away at first can be a little chaotic at first. To save yourself a little time and frustration at keep getting sent back to town and having to start the run from scratch again consider taking a hero with you. I used a P/Mo with Fall Back, Can't Touch This and UA while i trained on it, or you could go P/R with Natures Renewal. You can use the heros FB and CTT to run in with when you aggro and give you a little extra room for mistakes as your are at full charge to cast if you need to do a runner. Before you aggro select your hero in your party window, aggro and get in position. If you mess up cast FB, CTT and space bar to auto run to your hero and you should get away safely pretty much everytime. When you get the positioning right flag your hero off the map so that his name is shaded in your party list and it won't effect your drops. Once you've cracked the farm drop the hero, you'll have got the hang of both the positioning and doing a runner if any get around the spirit enough by now to not need it. First of many farms to get nerfed, thanks alot, looking for an excuse to buy a PS3, nerfing farming and an end to my GW fun looks to be it. Lets see how far they can push us before we're gone.

Indeed, and nerfing this seemed retarded. They couldve nerfed raptor farming or something fast, but they chose this? wtf? --- Ressmonkey (talk) 01:45, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
Seems like an impending DoA change. Probably going to make shit easier after SF nerf, and they don't want a gimmicky farming spot such as this to exist. Life Guardian 01:46, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
