It's exactly the same as Build:A/Me Solo UW which imo is better due to less chance of failing with SF seems you can buff it with runes, and the fact that the majority of damage dealing skills are PvE only skills. :/ Selket Shadowdancer 13:09, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
ALMOST same. Plus I think Radiation Field is superior to Viper's Defense as you get both disease and a degen. Oh, and I like the fact that Mesmer has faster casting spells, which equals more damage. Maintaining SF is only a BIT weaker. Plus, we have A/E's and E/A's, same could go for Me/A. At least Mesmer would have a nice build to farm in UW. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 15:21, 23 May 2008 (EDT)
Tested - can farm whole beach except for the Spider Cave. All those innocent skales and Driftwoods... — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 12:59, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
What about bringing an interupt to counter self-heals on bosses? - since self-heals are considered a counter. I love the fact that we have a mesmer build, for pve, that works well ! Squirrel 14:14, 25 May 2008 (EDT)
Whoever thinks this won't work, there is a A/Me version of this on youtube, soloing the first level of Tombs in under 4 minutes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neNaVShNa8k ,I saw a vote for this build, from someone who clearly has never used it!! :) --Trev 15:09, 25 May 2008 (EDT)
Er, you need to rewrite the build, put ether nightmare main bar, drop channeling, add viper's defense, and then either light of delrimmor or radiation field. what i'm saying is, give us a build and tell us how to mod it, rather than giving us a skeleton and a bunch of optionals. yeah, it does work (at any rate the sin primary version does, and just looking at the math so would this), but it will generally be outclassed by either a perma sf sliver armor sin, or a perma-sf dagger sin (a/e), and would be just barely better than a sin primary running this same build. so, yeah, it works, but clean it up a bit and put some other stuff main bar rather than just having two optionals and a bunch of variants. and ffs drop channeling. it's not needed, ESPECIALLY in hard mode.--Reason.decrystallized 18:52, 25 May 2008 (EDT)
What if someone doesn't have a sin? I can rewrite and add RADIATION FIELD (it's really superior to Viper's Defense... you don't break aggro, costs a bit more, but as a mesmer primary you have better e-management and disease + ward degen is better than poison alone) and Ether Nightmare and just give some optionals. But I won't remove Channeling for LoD, because it would be not a new build. Just a Me/A dupe of A/Me. Better dupe, but still. Oh, and A/E silver form doesn't have the energy management, A/E daggers can't kill aatxes due to ripostes. And this build is dealing armor-ignoring damage and degen. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 06:16, 26 May 2008 (EDT)
Radiation field is also pve only, and you can only have three pve only skills. it also costs three times the energy of viper's defense, and has a three-second cast time and iirc, longer recharge. it's a good skill in the build, but viper's defense is good as well. and what's wrong with a primary/secondary switched dupe? we've had the A/E and the E/A versions of the boss farmer around for forever.--Reason.decrystallized 06:49, 26 May 2008 (EDT)
No, I mean Radiation is superior to Viper's. Radiation gives disease, which is (as long as you farm non-human creatures) superior to Poison in every way. As a Mesmer 3 second cast is like 1,25, 15 energy is easy affordable with Channeling and after disease is applied and you recast RF, you get -4 + -5 degeneration for 5 seconds, then you get more disease. And notice that A/E and E/A are a bit different, for example A/E was safer so it could run to some bosses to whom E/A couldn't. On the other hand, E/A has bigger damage output and can farm easier bosses with self-heal. Here it's not really much difference between me/a and a/me if skills are same, as most of the damage is from pve-only skills. Assa has easier maintained SF, Mesmer has bigger damage output due to faster cast. But... Well, Mesmer doesn't really have much farm builds, so yeah, better to keep both Me/A and A/Me. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 08:22, 26 May 2008 (EDT)

errm this cant kill smites because the smites smiting skill(cant rememba wat its called) can kill you and they remove hexs

no, but it CAN kill aatxes and dryders, which have a higher ecto drop rate.--Reason.decrystallized 17:11, 28 May 2008 (EDT)
Yep, and all Chaos Planes/Valley. Plus, other Perma SF can't kill them too. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 06:17, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

Wow, this is like exactly what my build is. They can farm the exact same places. Maybe we should merge the two? Shattering Assault Assassin Of Fuz 20:30, 9 June 2008 (EDT)
Don't think so. Same as we don't merge E/A and A/E Green Boss farmers. Both have their pros and cons, they are not identical. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 09:39, 10 June 2008 (EDT)

Minimum Kurzic/Luxon Rank?

Is there a minimum Kurzic/Luxon rank that this build becomes workable at, and any replacements for the skill if it's unavailable? --Nela 07:57, 15 June 2008 (EDT)

Ether Nightmare is just there to meet the hex condition of Cry and provide a little damage in the meantime, so there's no minimum requirement. It'll just take a little longer with a low rank. --71.229 08:11, 15 June 2008 (EDT)
Rank 1 is minimal, but r2 would be better if you don't want to farm for more. Of course, at higher ranks it's more effective. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 13:59, 15 June 2008 (EDT)
will technically "work" at zero, it's just that the higher you are, the faster it is. how low it will "work" is really just a question of how slow you are willing to put up with it being.--Reason.decrystallized 14:01, 15 June 2008 (EDT)
You must have a minimum of r1 to get the skills though. Godbox GodlyCompanion-cube 14:05, 15 June 2008 (EDT)

Help.....

So im farming the mantids in HM outside Ran Musu Gardens with this build, i have a general idea how to work this build with the proper timing for perma SF etc etc but the problem is i cant do enough damage with those skills.

Im far from inexperienced been playing almost 2 years but this just baffles me - i read something about scatter, i tried to round up a load of them - i still wasnt really able to get any of their HP down to 70% just casting the same skills.

is the group too scatted or is the mob ive aggroed not big enough???

mature replys back please & no noob calling - im trying hard to understand this build lol. if some one would take some time out to explain it a little more indepth to me id be grateful 78.146.178.230 19:13, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

You know they have monks, right? This build's main damage comes from degen, they use Shield of Regeneration. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 03:12, 22 June 2008 (EDT)

yeah but the Mantid monitors only use it once on themselves & thats about it - fair enough maybe i cant kill them but how about the mantid drones?? 82.35.7.62 07:18, 22 June 2008 (EDT)

lol. Use cry of frustration once they are all stacked up, since AI isnt that smart, they usually sync all the spells in a cycle PER CLASS, so if you damage the mantids equaly all at once, then you can CoF them when they try to SoR themselves... + there are a bunch of usefull skills to use, like radiation feild anahilates their regen, etc. I'd just sugest you try to spam CoF...

cheers -Muscolo

what?

so the assassin build gets archived because of the shadow form nerf...but this doesnt? Quackerz0[OUCH] 12:14, 1 August 2008 (EDT)

This uses degen. Degen is not nerfed. Assassin's build was MAINLY for UW, and there are better assassin builds for UW. Oh, and this is the only Mesmer build that can farm so many mobs. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 06:37, 2 August 2008 (EDT)
the A/Me build and this are exactly the same, just different attributes. SirNothing[OUCH] 18:27, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
Then make it the only Mesmer build that can farm so many monsters. We can't go Me/A/E, can we. Assassins can go A/E. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 03:56, 7 August 2008 (EDT)
i'm not talking about the A/E build. i'm saying that the A/ME build and the ME/A build are the same. and the sin one got archived. nowhere did i mention the A/E build so idk why you even brought that up. SirNothing[OUCH] 16:30, 7 August 2008 (EDT)
Eh. A/Me was archived, because it was inferior and slower than A/E, which isn't archived. Me/A doesn't have a better version. That's why I mentioned those builds. Same as when A/E Green Farmer was archived and E/A Green Farmer wasn't, even if builds were almost exact. Same here... Almost same, but not quite. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 13:33, 9 August 2008 (EDT)
oh, so you're saying this wasnt archived because it's really the only mesmer build that can actually do anything? SirNothing[OUCH] 14:15, 9 August 2008 (EDT)
Aye. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 14:16, 9 August 2008 (EDT)
oh ok =P that makes more sense SirNothing[OUCH] 18:54, 9 August 2008 (EDT)

Help! :P

What dungeons specifically can this do? I've tried a few, but most there have been counters... also when doing A Time For Heros the Great Destroyer has many skills that can almost overkill me by about 300 dmg... is it possible to do? Help please :) The Little Guy... 13:38, 18 August 2008 (EDT)

Guess I was way off about that A Time for Heroes... I think there should be "Glint's Challenge" there, as it can most certainly farm enemies there. Removing the notes, as G. Destroyer's skills penetrate armor. Also, from dungeons, I think the snowmen one can be farmed, as all enemies use spells blocked by Shadow Form. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 14:28, 18 August 2008 (EDT)
Okay, I'll have a crack at the snowman dungeon, and let you know how I get on.. thanks for clearing everything up about ATFH :) The Little Guy... 14:33, 18 August 2008 (EDT)

Errr..UW?

I keep trying to do UW... with the exact build taking Radiation Field as the optional, I have the same attributes and runes/weapons/armor. Rep Titles Sunspear-r5 Asuran-r3 Kurzick-r2 Whenever I do UW, I can't kill everything because everytime I use CoP with all hexes on over 3/4 of the group runs and regens until they are back to full health... I kill 1 mob every 10 mins... I know it can be MUCH faster than that but it doesn't seem to work for me. Please help into what I am doing wrong/what variants I may need...Thanks The Little Guy... 09:39, 20 August 2008 (EDT)

you need to know where to pull them that they will get bodyblocked. SirNothing[OUCH] 14:02, 20 August 2008 (EDT)

Description and Layout

of the build are inaccurate. The order should be Deadly Paradox first followed by Arcane Echo and Shadow Form. If you'll read Arcane Echo you'd see the, "This enchantment ends if you use any skill that is not a spell," which, in your description, would completely mislead newer players into believing this build does not work. Please change accordingly. - WeHeartKatamari WeHeartKatamari 15:51, 26 September 2008 (EDT)

from the usage: "Maintain Shadow Form. This is accomplished by: 1. When starting off, cast Arcane Echo. While it is casting, active Deadly Paradox, then cast Shadow Form." read first, complain second.--reason.decrystallized I frenzy-healsig. 23:00, 6 October 2008 (EDT)

12 dec 2008 - SF nerf

following the latest SF nerf, considering only the first 3 skills which are dedicated for permaSF, the chain gets interrupted before casting the 3rd SF due to Arcane Echo not recharging in time. Therefore mesmer perma SF needs more thinking atm... -pixy

It still works for the Glacial Keg farm. I am able to consistently take out the Vaettirs in two groups before the chain expires, although sometimes I need to cast a third SF. Often the knockdown from the kegs is enough if I pull correctly. So the alt build is still useful for that. -Boneyard

Wrong skill

How could this build work? Mesmers don't have deadly arts, so no deadly paradox. Am I wrong?

33% recharge still applies ---Chaos is gay - 21:41, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
Can still get the skill but can NOT use the attribute line :( ... T1Cybernetic 21:42, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
Me/A gets Deadly Arts... Critical Strikes is the primary attribute of Assassins. Doesn't matter since SF was nerfed too much for secondary assassins anyway. ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2 21:51, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
Also, DP has a long enough duration at attribute level 0 that you don't need to put any points into it. ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2 21:52, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
