How do u deal with smites healing? --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 13:34, 14 December 2007 (CET)

They are attacking so fast that they are killing themselves on the Ripostes and Gladiator's Defense. It requires to use GD only 2 times before a group of smites die. Plus, if you attack with sword and deal 1-3 damage, RoF heals for very little. Plus after few seconds they start to run out of energy due to Zealot's Fire and massive amount of damage. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 13:51, 14 December 2007 (CET)

Sorry for my lame vote (all-nighters do that to me), but I seriously thought this would get WELL'd, because there's just better ways to do this. The obvious risk you're taking is getting prot spirit stripped when you're not fully prepared for it, but I'll give you that with enough experience you can probably get used to it. I suppose mending with vigorous isn't so bad with the stances, either. This'll work, I guess, but it's just a question of it working on par with the builds I linked to ... unless you only have prophecies I guess. --Mafaraxas 16:50, 14 December 2007 (CET)

Not exactly a safe way to Farm UW... Several Severe Counters = Enchantment Removal - Dying Nightmares , Snare's = Coldfire Night.. Not very safe as it has no big heal.. aside from mending, the Smite's will kill you incredibly quickly unless you can maintain Bonetti's / Gladiators. And even then Zealot's fire will most likely kill you.. Not very Good IMO. Better way of doing it ( Listed Above ). ExpMoIconExperienced 00:46, 15 December 2007 (CET)

Unholy reflexes? If you can't recast Protective Spirit after 2 seconds before Aatxes engage you, then don't play monk. Same why people voted Mesmer builds with Power Drain/Return as a bad thing, because they can't interrupt 1 second cast. This build is VERY easy, I can freely chat with my friends on guild chat while killing Aatxes. Oh, yeah, can your W/Rt or D/Me kill them? No. And you have Vigorous Spirit to heal yourself... Added video (NOT MINE!) of the build. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 09:41, 15 December 2007 (CET)

My rt/mo can kill them, oh yea in HM too, if you want to to kill smites fast W/Me NM works great, but it cant drop the Aatxes, which is great about this build, Nice Job -- Simply Amazing 08:52, 16 December 2007 (CET)

WTB: Healing breeze? Plz thanks :\ It waaaaaaaay outshines vig spirit, yes i know you're attacking all the time for adrenaline, but i believe breeze just got buffed to like 15 seconds or something at low healing prayers...use it...itz gud Guiltfeeder 06:45, 16 December 2007 (CET)

Spirit heals you for 15 health per 1.33 second. And it makes you heal more when you recast it or cast Prot Spirit. Plus it's more energy-wise, 10 energy is pretty much. Plus it's one second cast, it can be interrupted by Aatxe/Grasping pretty easily, while WS is 1/4 cast. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 08:03, 16 December 2007 (CET)
spirit works fine, no need to change it. the 1/4 second cast is one of the best features -Karmapolice 08:17, 16 December 2007 (CET)

I would say that change Mending to Healing Breeze, put Healing 7+1+3, by lowering Prot and put Sprint on the variants, so you can run to every aatxe and sprint away, when Nightmare pop ups and kills itself by Rend Enchaments. 05:30, 21 December 2007 (EST)Force

Hi, My fiend thinks that theBuild:W/Rt VWK farmer is better than this build, I think this build is better, what do u guys think? --Xilarth The Wise Xilarth The Wise-Sig 22:21, 20 December 2007 (EST)

this one scored .04 higher by the vetting system, so in theory its better :O.--Shadowsin 22:24, 20 December 2007 (EST)
IMO, killing Aatxes sucks, so just killing grasps and smites is better. So that build is better. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 07:13, 21 December 2007 (EST)
Thank God it's only your IMO. Aatxes have four times higher chance of dropping Ecto. And W/Rt is overrated, rly. Slower than mine and not very safer. Oh, and my build scored 0.14 higher than W/Rt. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 07:34, 21 December 2007 (EST)
Only, it's not your build. E-peen boasting makes me laugh. –Ichigo724Ichigo-signature 11:32, 21 December 2007 (EST)
Okay, build that I submitted. Happy now? — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 03:25, 30 December 2007 (EST)
Yes. *dances* –Ichigo724Ichigo-signature 09:04, 30 December 2007 (EST)

new modification

First of all say that build works fine to kill Bladed Aatxes, Grasping Nightmares and smites. using it a lot of times I have this considerations if you want to try:

- I have tried to change mortal riposte with Dwarven Stability Activation tine is 1/4 and cos 5 energy. It Allows you to have Gladiator's defense 20 sec maximun, which is pretty cool. You loose one riposte every 10 sec and aatxes bleeding but it kill smite crawlers more fast, try it ;)

- Never stop attack smites. If they use Shield of Judgment you only need to mantain gladiator's defense or bonetti's defense. Believe me, you will never die if do it :D

* Counters: loose protective spirit --- Dazed --- 5 aatxes or more (4 is difficult but not mortal)--- 6 smites or more --- dying nightmare (if not cast protective spirit after loosing enchantments

regards --Sinchan 11:09, 13 January 2008 (EST) Sinchan Pro

PS: note that bladed aatxes have more chance to give ectos than smites. I love this build and 600+smiter UW in HM

I already stated that aatxes give more ecto than smites. Dazed is almost impossible, as they rarely interrupt 1/4 second cast spells. — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 06:03, 14 January 2008 (EST)

Better heal than Vigorous Spirit

I've tried this build and LOVE it but I fail about 30% of runs because of small heals. I prefer using SoA and relying on Divine Favor and Mending to heal me. --Risus 20:43, 31 January 2008 (EST)

lol. i have used it before with healing breeze.. much better than vigorous spirit..can't seem to kill smites though .. they use RoF alot while I spam riposte's and they just heal what I damage bak.. ExpMoIconExperienced 02:22, 19 March 2008 (EDT)

It works for raptors! just ALWAYS stay in a stance

Media:Example.ogg So far i have wasted 10k on this build... didnt make any of it back. IMO /fail (and yes, i am a rather exp 55

I agree, fail. Like no screenshot why this doesn't work ;d — Abedeus User Abedeus Sig 07:11, 19 May 2008 (EDT)

Using it with a W/M

I've tried this build, and now it's my usual solo farm with warrior on the underworld. Also, i agree with Sinchan that the build with Dwarven Stability works better (specially at the smites crawler zone). Gerard -- 16:30, 6 June 2008 (EDT)

Dwarven Stability

is a good idea--Relyk Purifying Veil SigRELYK ʞlɐʇ ʎɯ 22:33, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

Profices Only

There are so many better ways to farm UW with a Monk, safer, quicker and more of it. The only good thing about this build I can find is that it runs with only Profices skills. Soz to be so negative, but its true. Sir Rawr 07:21, 27 October 2008 (EDT)

Are there any better SOLO ways to farm UW with a monk? If so, could you post a link? I've been dying for a solo UW monk build because my monk is my main character and this build is...not that great. Shinomori 16:13, 31 December 2008 (EST)

People who cannot see how easy it is to dodge skellies, you can always switch armor if you wanna run past them so you dont get instagibbed. 09:51, August 9, 2010 (UTC)
