This build has been designed for the following use:

This is another version of the ever-unpopular Unsteady Ground elementalists. This build uses Unsteady, along with Eruption to mostly render melee useless. With the ritualist secondary, Weapon of Warding can be used to boost defense for yourself, or teammates under melee pressure.

Optional

  • Stoning for damage.
  • Ebon Hawk for weakness. Strongly recommended if bringing stoning.
  • Grasping Earth for a quick snare to slow down harassing melee, bring in HA.
  • Ward Against Foes the same as grasping earth without the risk of melee range, bring in HA.
  • Ward Against Melee for even more blocking, and support.
  • Earthquake/Dragon's Stomp for ranged knockdowns and damage support.
  • Obsidian Flame for armor ignoring damage. Be wary of Exhaustion.
  • Magnetic Surge for (conditionally) larger armor ignoring damage. The energy cost/exhaustion ratio is dependent upon the players choice over Obsidian.
  • Churning Earth to add additional DoTAoE damage, along with punishing IMS using kiters.

Equipment

  • 20% 20/40 Earth Staff
  • 40/40 Earth Set
  • High set.
  • Shield sets.
  • Additionally, you may want to bring a 40/40 Resto set as well, if you want to cast WoW more often.
  • Survivor's armor. Radiant if you're bad with energy.

Usage

  • Maintain Earth Attunement.
  • Lay Unsteady Ground on melee foes attacking you or teammates.
  • Lay Eruption in another area for multiple foe melee shutdown.
  • Try using them after one's done, to decrease cool down in between.
  • Weapon of Warding on yourself or when needed on teammates.
  • Use Glyph of Lesser Energy for energy management.

Counters

Variants

  • Death Pact Signet or Flesh of My Flesh can be used as hard-ressurection skills. Death Pact should only be used on healers, or players with adequate defense.
  • For AB, drop the ressurection signet and bring Wielder's Boon or another handy restoration magic skill for additional team support.
  • Also, for HA, instead of a ritualist secondary, go Paragon. Song of Concentration (which is basically no attribute), or "Make Haste!" for helping the Ghostly cap, and for runners respectively. 5 points in command should suffice for "Make Haste!".
