The PvXwiki community finds this to be an excellent build.

If you disagree with this rating, please discuss it on the build's talk page.

This build has been designed for the following use:

This build is simply to have a pure Spirit Wrangler Ritualist: to support the team with focused armor-ignoring damage. It takes advantage of the extremely powerful Kurzick/Luxon skill, Summon Spirits, to move around your spirits. Combined with spirit attacks triggering Painful Bond, this will inflict significant damage to the one being attacked.

Attributes and Skills

The Kurzick Template Code: <pvxbig> [build prof=Rt/? com=11+1 cha=11+1+1 spa=8+1][Painful Bond][optional][Pain][Vampirism][Bloodsong][Anguish][Summon Spirits (Kurzick)][Optional][/build] </pvxbig> The Luxon Template Code: <pvxbig> [build prof=Rt/? com=11+1 cha=11+1+1 spa=8+1][Painful Bond][optional][Pain][Vampirism][Bloodsong][Anguish][Summon Spirits (Luxon)][Optional][/build] </pvxbig>

Equipment

  • Insignias on armor: You are free to choose between Radiant (Energy), Survivor (Health), or Shaman (Armor while earshot of spirits) Insignia Armor.
    • If you choose to use Superior Rune, highly recommend usage of survivor (details at Notes).
  • Staff that reduces cast and recharge time like Wenslauss' Faith or increses maximum energy like Staff of the Forgotten

Usage

  • Before entering battle, summon the spirits. Once the enemies are within attack-range, cast Summon Spirits. Use any PvE-only skills (such as Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support) at this point to snare or aggro foes.
  • ATTACK! Recast any spirits as necessary. Leave some space between the spirits so that AoE's can't take them down all at once.
  • Cast Painful Bond on enemies as it reloads (preferably on groups) and on Single Bosses. Use Offering of Spirits to manage your energy use.
  • If you are under melee attack, you can summon spirits and back away. This will create the wall of spirits to protect you. However, remember that spirits will die fairly quickly, so do not gain a false sense of security, and by no means will they replace a tank in a party. Also, if you are using fragile spirits or spirits that die quickly before its recharge, use this method sparingly and cautiously.
  • Just keep up the spirits

Counters

  • Interrupt of Spirit Wrangler.
  • Having all spirits on one spot
  • Getting spiked
  • AoE on your spirits will cause huge damage on them. Run out of aoe area and cast Summon Spirits to rescue them.

Variants

  • Replace:
  • When carrying other/more spirits or using Signet of Ghostly Might, changing the highest attribute from channeling to communing and/or increasing spawning power may be advisable.
  • You can switch the existing spirits with other spirits as well. Even with higher energy req. spirits, it should not create any energy problems as long as you don't spam them.

Notes

  • You can use superior runes for this build to yield small but higher damage/energy management. But be aware that monsters in pve tend to target people with the lowest maximum health. If death is not a big concern for you (it's not like you are MM), there is no reason why you can't take a sup rune instead.
  • By conservative estimates, this build deal between 400-700 damage towards any single foe -- over a period of 5 seconds -- depending on you choice of elite, spirits and/or runes. With practiced targeting and proper party coordination, it can be quite common to spike-kill any unprotected non-boss foe with the initial volley-attack.
  • Use of Summon Spirits will cause your spirits to have a same target (excluding few spirits which are designed to spread attacks).
  • This build is similar to Painful Echo but there really is no necessity to echo the painful bond as it is an AoE hex and you gain additional control of your spirits' targeting.
  • The real big advantage here vs other spirit wrangler builds is that you do not need time to build up an army. The damage source is there fully when you need it.
