Revision as of 21:40, 28 March 2008

As this is a noticeboard and not a talk page, please refrain from discussing!

The Admin noticeboard

There are a number of issues that can only be solved by an Administrator. The Admin noticeboard is one of the means through which users can contact Administrators in order to identify a problem that needs Administrative attention. Although editors are welcome to directly contact particular Administrators, posting on this page instead may be an easier way to let the entire Administrative group know of the issue (which may be particularly helpful since it increases the odds that at least one Administrator will see, and thus be able to respond to, the issue promptly).

There are only a limited number of things for which this page should be used. Many problems can be solved without Administrative intervention, and, thus, this page should be restricted to those issues that actually require an Administrator. Those are: blocking vandals, (un)deleting pages, (un)protecting pages, removing votes (either as per Real Vetting or because the build has been substantially edited), and mediation (only if the situation demands it).

Even in cases of vandalism, posting on this page needn't be the first step (and indeed should not be the first step). If you see vandalism, just go ahead and revert it, anyone has the power to do so. If it's a new article with no safe version to revert back to, tag it for deletion. In both cases you should leave a message in the talk page of that user to make him/her aware of why that kind of edit is unacceptable on PvXwiki. Only post here if that user persists in his/her actions, ignoring the warnings or if the content requires immediate Administrative attention (eg. if the material on the page is so offensive that should be immediately deleted).

(Be careful in case that user repeatedly insists on vandalizing, avoid a revert war; it's far better to temporarily leave the vandalized version of the page up until an admin has a chance to intervene.)

To create a new request: add an item to the bottom of the list below, providing a brief, neutral summary of the issue. As a sign of courtesy, also leave a message on the talk page of any other involved users so they are aware of this discussion. If you are alerting an admin of a vandal, use the {{IP}} template, with the first parameter being the vandal's IP or username. If you are requesting that vote(s) be removed, please use the {{Build}} template, with the first parameter being the build's name.

Please place new requests at the bottom of the corresponding issues heading.

General Issues

General issues include (un)deleting pages, (un)protecting pages, banning vandals, and moderating serious disputes. This section may also be used for miscellaneous issues as well as Administrative announcements. See resolved issues here.

Five violations of NPA ([1], [2], [3], [4], [5]), three of which were directed at administrators trying to resolve a dispute and at least one of which came after being warned, violation of the spirit of both PvX:DIS and PvX:DICK. --Some Anonymous Coward

Last two links do not appear to be violations of NPA, while others are mild. Could use second opinion. — Rapta Rapta Icon1 (talk|contribs) 18:31, 23 March 2008 (EDT)
I like to give opinions, although it really doesn't matter as I have no admin stuff (/cough, /cough) but honestly, it seems to all be a misunderstanding of the word "nigger" on PvX as a joke rather than a racial slur. It was probably just dragged out a little too far on both ends. --GoD Sig3GuildofDeals 18:33, 23 March 2008 (EDT)
I give everyone permission to NPA me since I'm such an asshole, so it's cool. — Skakid 18:34, 23 March 2008 (EDT)

This is obviously not a "one-person" thing. Stop provoking him, and straight up your act, the lot of you. There's a line between being funny and being retarded/trolling. I'd prefer to not have to draw it out for you (probably using blocks).
That being said, carry on and don't provoke a rude comment from a user, then whine on the AN about that rude comment. Whining on your user talk pages is fine, but don't drag unnecessarily amounts of people into your "crisis". — Rapta Rapta Icon1 (talk|contribs) 16:35, 28 March 2008 (EDT)

Build-Specific Issues

Build-Specific refers to any issue pertaining to the removal of votes, usually resolved by a Build Master or Administrator. See resolved issues here.

If you wish to dispute another user's vote, it is advised to do so on the build's talk page. This section of the noticeboard is intended to notify Admins or Build Masters of issues that can be speedily resolved (e.g. factually incorrect votes) or issues in need of mediation. Avoid debating builds or votes here.

Note: If applicable, please identify specific votes to improve admin response time.

Please take a look at Riff's vote, as it is incorrect. - (är'tə-mĭs gōld'brănd)Warrior-icon-small[snō hwīt tăn] 18:28, 3 March 2008 (EST)

Can you please elaborate on that? Riff took the time to elabrate on his/her rating in each section, so there should be at least an elaborate reason refuting it. — Rapta Rapta Icon1 (talk|contribs) 00:06, 10 March 2008 (EDT)
Riff gives it a low score saying Nightmares pop-ups always ruins the runs. This is incorrect. Look at both the usage section of the article and the talk page. He has also misunderstood the difference between Effectiveness and Universality, giving Effectiveness a low score because of Nightmares. Same goes for Matti Nuke, as he said "See Riff's comment." - (ză'rē'năs thĕ shăd'ō)Assassin-icon-small[snō hwīt tăn] 22:43, 15 March 2008 (EDT)

Rt/any Remedy Restorer (talk · rate)

Zuranthium, Crossfire and Lilondra are all wrong. If we should trash every ritualist build that relies on "only" one spirit we wouldn't have very many of those. See Rt/Mo Warmonger's Support and Rt/any OoS Support Ritualist for examples of great build whom both rely on only one spirit. Dark Morphon's vote could also be elaborated considering his low rating on the different criterion. Godbox GodlyCompanion-cube 12:02, 24 March 2008 (EDT)

Incomparable due to being tagged for different areas. — Rapta Rapta Icon1 (talk|contribs) 12:11, 24 March 2008 (EDT)
The OoS rit is tagged for RA too... Godbox GodlyCompanion-cube 15:45, 24 March 2008 (EDT)
Yes, but the bar is sustainable in the main areas. — Rapta Rapta Icon1 (talk|contribs) 16:21, 24 March 2008 (EDT)
Please read my note on this build's talk page. Mainly, notice how this build still has condition removal without a spirit. Yes, OoS is e-management without a spirit, but it gets painful. AR, WoW, and WoR still function completely if Bloodsong is destroyed, and in my experience, most of the time those skills are enough to get through the 30sec recast on Bloodsong. Obviously, a spirit is easier to maintain in PvE, but please explain how a spirit is easier to maintain in TA than in RA, as the OoS build is tagged for TA also. Aikavanak 16:32, 24 March 2008 (EDT)
Almost half your bar loses effectiveness without your spirit. And it is more effective in TA because you have an organized team that can deal with your small sac. It's different from saccing in order to heal. In any case, this is for instigating the WoR build, not the OoS build. The OoS is irrelevant in this case. — Rapta Rapta Icon1 (talk|contribs) 16:46, 24 March 2008 (EDT)

W/D "Victory is Mine" Scythe (talk · rate)

I think people went a bit crazy with voting here. Everyone except me either 0-0-0'd or 5-5-5'd. It's in trash right now, but I suspect vote balancing. One vote even expresses a desire to not have 2.5 rated builds on the wiki that no one is going to use anyway. I'm thinking about switching the build to a Dervish primary and getting people to revote, but it hardly seems worth it if no one is taking voting seriously anyway, including the author. Even if I don't do a rewrite, it probably needs a vote wipe(Well almost, I think my vote is ok naturally). At least the author vote and the "We don't want 2.5 rated builds" votes probably need to go. Voting needs to mean something if people are going to take the vetting process seriously. Misery 04:59, 28 March 2008 (EDT)

The 0-0-0 votes are valid. The 5-5-5 votes could be struck, but there's no real point seeing how the build is already trashed. --Scottie bow Scottie_theNerd (argue/criticise/complain) 06:26, 28 March 2008 (EDT)

N/Rt Foul Feast Healer (talk · rate)

ChrisRodrigues vote is still wrong. The most rits play a hybrid role and just because you deal damage doesn't mean you have to focus 100% on it, you can still keep focus on the healing. Apart from that the vote now contains an attack against me too, which hardly has anything with the build to do. His vote was wrong before and it still is, the only difference is that now he's wrong and attacking me. Godbox GodlyCompanion-cube 04:55, 28 March 2008 (EDT)

Cool idea i think

Could we maybe get a bar sayin like Crit rate and DPS on weapon based builds? like for a warr have Crit rate based on wep mastery, and a DPS based on wep attribute. Mehbe not worth it, but useful nonetheless. ~~ User:Frvwfr2 frvwfr2 (T/C/Sysop) 02:22, 10 December 2007 (CET)

Would it be like base DPS? I dunno how useful that might be in some builds. Shogunshen Sig Shen(contribs) 02:38, 10 December 2007 (CET)
True... Maybe just crit hit chance then, but that has negligible use except for on Sins, but then they use a lot of crit increasing skills too. Maybe just forget it. ~~ User:Frvwfr2 frvwfr2 (T/C/Sysop) 02:42, 10 December 2007 (CET)
I think that would be quite kool, but then you have to think of how to get it only on rangers/warriors/ass. etc. and not jsut casters with a wand -.-. also on the idea of adding things-equipment template code(s) maybe? would mean we don't have to just list it....i think (would have to for PvE builds i guess....)PheNaxKian (T/c)Tag thumb 21:16, 11 December 2007 (CET)

template.php Bug

The script to save the builds has a bug. Some build templates have a '+' in it, like Build:R/Mo_Magebane_Shot_Ranger. The problem with this is that the + is a url escape character for a ' ' space, so the script returns a file with a ' ' where a '+' should be. Fixing this is easy, just urlencode($template) before you write back the file. THC4k 07:22, 21 February 2008 (EST)

I've been meaning to mention that. I hoped someone else would bring it up because i lacked enough savvy to repeat what you said.--Dark0805(Rant/Contributions) 10:09, 25 February 2008 (EST)

Front page

Someone appears to have monumentally fucked it up. Flashing images, some rant about admins, and a huge blown up image of frenzy--Goldenstar 17:05, 29 February 2008 (EST)

Someone vandalized the Featured Builds template. Gone now, clear cache. WTB maximum character limit for edits. --71.229 17:09, 29 February 2008 (EST)
Or WTB Wizardboy changing the way it's set up so people can't do that :P ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 19:05, 29 February 2008 (EST)
Both would be good. Lord Belar 19:13, 29 February 2008 (EST)
Just a thought, but we might want to make sure you can't insert a style sheet into any pages here. If I wanted to wreak havoc myself, I'd make a 5mil char style sheet and insert it into a few dozen pages at once on here. I mean, that's how they trash most servers nowadays when not wanting to go internal. I haven't tried anything with stylesheets, but we should really make sure that that wouldn't be possible. Extend Conditions

<pvxbig> [Extend Conditions] </pvxbig>

It's missing its end parenthese. --GoD Sig3GuildofDeals 15:41, 6 March 2008 (EST)

Yeah, and half the skills have incorrect descriptions because of updates. I don't know if anyone is actually updating that anymore. Lord Belar 17:34, 6 March 2008 (EST)
Well updates are brand new, and there's tons of them this time. Gc is gonna have assloads of fun. --GoD Sig3GuildofDeals 17:36, 6 March 2008 (EST)
Gcard doesn't do those updates. That's why they're 3-4 updates behind. Lord Belar 17:41, 6 March 2008 (EST)
who does then? Antiarchangel 21:06, 6 March 2008 (EST)
Pretty sure it's gwshack ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 21:08, 6 March 2008 (EST)
And they happen to suck at it. :/ Lord Belar 21:37, 6 March 2008 (EST)
So anyway we could do it ourselves? Or is it too much code or something? Antiarchangel 17:39, 7 March 2008 (EST)
We just can't. ~~ User:Frvwfr2 frvwfr2 (T/C/Sysop) 17:41, 7 March 2008 (EST)
Isn't the issue that Extend Conditions is missing a paranthese? --GoD Sig3GuildofDeals 17:48, 7 March 2008 (EST)
And that half the other skills descriptions are outdated. Antiarchangel 18:06, 7 March 2008 (EST)
I believe somewhere that there was mention of developing our own skill database so the community could keep the skill descriptions up to date(though it'd probably be only admins who could edit for various reasons)....PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 20:01, 8 March 2008 (EST)

It still says it has a 2 second cast time a month after the update. ViYsig5(vĭk'tə-rē ĭz yôrz) 18:47, 8 March 2008 (EST)

once again GWshack's fault, apparently they can't update skill icons for shit. Antiarchangel Antiarchangel No U Sig NO U 18:48, 8 March 2008 (EST)

Sacrifice as cost

<pvxbig>[Offering of Blood]</pvxbig>
Sacrifice cost cannot be seen in the pvxbig template. Skills' descriptions with sacrifice no longer mentions "You sacrifice 20% health.". A sacrifice cost below the energy one should solve the problem. ~ ĐONT*TALK 13:45, 13 March 2008 (EDT)

gwBBcode has not been updated yet. — Rapta Rapta Icon1 (talk|contribs) 13:50, 13 March 2008 (EDT)
Sacrifice costs are showing up (at least for me) at gwshack. This is probably an issue with our extension. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 15:00, 13 March 2008 (EDT)
Or have we DLed the latest from gwshack? B/c GCard said he would add a page taht would DL the latest version... Oh wait. We have the new version. Idk. ~~     Frvwfr2     talk    contribs    admin   09:00, 14 March 2008 (EDT)
