The Admin noticeboard

There are a number of issues that can only be solved by an Administrator. The Admin noticeboard is one of the means through which users can contact Administrators in order to identify a problem that needs Administrative attention. Although editors are welcome to directly contact particular Administrators, posting on this page instead may be an easier way to let the entire Administrative group know of the issue (which may be particularly helpful since it increases the odds that at least one Administrator will see, and thus be able to respond to, the issue promptly).

There are only a limited number of things for which this page should be used. Many problems can be solved without Administrative intervention, and, thus, this page should be restricted to those issues that actually require an Administrator. Those are: blocking vandals, (un)deleting pages, (un)protecting pages, removing votes (either as per Real Vetting or because the build has been substantially edited), and mediation (only if the situation demands it).

Even in cases of vandalism, posting on this page needn't be the first step (and indeed should not be the first step). If you see vandalism, just go ahead and revert it, anyone has the power to do so. If it's a new article with no safe version to revert back to, tag it for deletion. In both cases you should leave a message in the talk page of that user to make him/her aware of why that kind of edit is unacceptable on PvXwiki. Only post here if that user persists in his/her actions, ignoring the warnings or if the content requires immediate Administrative attention (eg. if the material on the page is so offensive that should be immediately deleted).

(Be careful in case that user repeatedly insists on vandalizing, avoid a revert war; it's far better to temporarily leave the vandalized version of the page up until an admin has a chance to intervene.)

To create a new request: add an item to the bottom of the list below, providing a brief, neutral summary of the issue. As a sign of courtesy, also leave a message on the talk page of any other involved users so they are aware of this discussion. If you are alerting an admin of a vandal, use the {{IP}} template, with the first parameter being the vandal's IP or username. If you are requesting that vote(s) be removed, please use the {{Build}} template, with the first parameter being the build's name.

Note that this is not a talk page and that the respective moderators of each section reserve the right to remove non-administrative comments without discussion.

Please place new requests at the bottom of the corresponding issues heading.

General Issues

General problems, such as user conduct, vandalism, and bans. Also, suggestions can be posted here. All can be resolved by an Administrator. See resolved General Issues here.

Should be stopped from removing any vote that isn't obviously a troll vote, He is not a BM and he's removing BM votes, He also is terrible at the game called GW.----ﮎHædõ๘یíɳShadowsin sig 12:50, 15 December 2008 (EST)

He's been told to stop removing votes before and continues to do it. I could link you to the builds that he's been removing them from but most of the votes have already been restored, He knows hes not allowed to do it, yet does it anyway.----ﮎHædõ๘یíɳShadowsin sig 13:19, 15 December 2008 (EST)
He's allowed to, before BMs there were only admins (and Bcrats) who had the power to remove votes. Generally though with the introduction of BMs we've said that only admins should limit it to votes that are blatantly wrong or troll votes, and leave BMs to decide the rest. But the question then arises as to where do we say "that vote's wrong"...it's precption. In any case we should stop conversing on the AN >.>. Like Gringo said, if you feels he's done wrong, you can bring up a request for evaluation. ~ PheNaxKian Sysop 13:32, 15 December 2008 (EST)
No Phen, Hes not, thats the point, only BM's are allowed to remove votes on the basis of theory crafting, and an Admin removing a vote cast by a build master is just an incredible over reach of power, most Admins didnt get Admin by being good at the game, they got Admin by being good with people, Frv has been told he's not allowed to remove votes before, unless they are obviously troll votes. For that matter you're not supposed to be removing votes either. Most admins already did a separate RFBM on top of their adminship to make it official, neither you nor frv have done an RFBM so you should not be removing any non-troll votes.----ﮎHædõ๘یíɳShadowsin sig 13:36, 15 December 2008 (EST)

I know Ulterion told me the whole scoop about it and I even surfed through some of the dialogue. It's quite astounding, actually. Both parties were wrong, though. Both Ulterion & all of whom attacked him (getting away scott-free, btw..) were in violation of rule regarding conduct. He told me earlier that he's done coming to this site. He claimed he's made his point, defied being banned by admin and taunts from those that wished banning upon him, etc.. and recommended me, a new user and newcomer to guild wars, to come to it for cool builds and useful stuff. Build-Specific Issues

Build-Specific refers to any issue pertaining to the removal of votes, usually resolved by a Build Master or Administrator. See resolved issues here.

If you wish to dispute another user's vote, it is advised to do so on the build's talk page. This section of the noticeboard is intended to notify Admins or Build Masters of issues that can be speedily resolved (e.g. factually incorrect votes) or issues in need of mediation. Avoid debating builds or votes here.

Note: If applicable, please identify specific votes to improve admin response time.

General Coding Issues

Coding refers to any issue or bug that needs to be dealt with by a Server Administrator (Gcardinal or Hhhippo). See resolved issues here. PvXcode related issues have their own section below.

Rating Page Lock

We need a way to lock rating pages from additions and removals(Like a page protection). Also useful for archived builds, to keep the rating page unchanged. ~~     Frvwfr2     talk    contribs    admin   16:53, 13 May 2008 (EDT)

Forum links

Could possibly get some coding to link to the forums for specific builds? For example, if in the article, there is some code such as "forums=(URL)" then it would add a link to the top. Is this possible? We could just make a template and add it to these pages I guess. ~~     Frvwfr2     talk    contribs    admin   12:50, 25 September 2008 (EDT)

Display issues with Safari Browser

Well, I recently downloaded the new Safari browser and i like it a lot. However, there seems to be some kind of display issue with PvX. The navigation bar that is supposed to appear on the left hand side of each article is just a blank white area and the links from that are pushed down to the very bottom of the page below the white area. Could be something to do with my computer, but can someone else using safari confirm? Thanks Peter 02:58, 26 September 2008 (EDT)

Yea, the sidebar links are getting pushed down below the article body on every page. I'll look into it and see if I can change the css or something to fix it if I have time. Hhhippo might know how to fix it. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 17:44, 26 September 2008 (EDT)
Nothing I've tried fixes it. It's entirely possible it's a safari bug. But if anyone else who knows some css wants to try to figure it out, here's a summary of what I tried:
  1. Reducing the width of the article body and/or sidebar just leaves a bigger gap between them.
  2. Changing the white-space:nowrap in the h4, h5, and h6's for .portlet to white-space:normal removes the big section of whitespace, and the sidebar looks normal... except that it's still shoved down below the article.
  3. Changing the border, padding, and margin for .portlet and #pBody did nothing.
I tried more than this, but I don't remember it all. Also, guildwiki, GWW, and wikipedia all look normal in Safari. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 18:26, 26 September 2008 (EDT)
Confirmed, no other wikis seem to be having this issue. Peter 07:53, 27 September 2008 (EDT)
Opera, IE, Firefox, and Chrome all load the wiki fine. I'm guessing it's a rendering issue in Safari. If you want, I could try to write up a CSS that'll fix it for just you that you can put in your monobook. Cedave bad  ツ cedave (☆contributions☆) 20:24, 28 September 2008 (EDT)
If it was a rendering issue would it not an effect on the other wikis? Its not a huge problem by an stretch of the imagination, just a bit inconvenient. I will contact apple and see what they say....Peter 04:26, 29 September 2008 (EDT)

Build Master Noticeboard

Since admins shouldn't really be making removals on votes that require thought into whether a vote needs to be removed, maybe a BN noticeboard could be made. If there is a vote that you feel is wrong, you could raise it on the BM noticeboard for discussion or to raise the attention of a BM. Obviously if a troll vote is made it can still be noted on the AN but for the votes that would require a BM, it could be used. Also means BM's don't have to go searching round RC and RRating to find wrong/bad votes. PvXwiki:Build_Master_noticeboard.--Frosty 13:23, 15 December 2008 (EST)

I believe around the introduction of BMs I suggested such a thing, but for whatever reason we decided not to. For instance, a few weeks back we only had 1 active BM (the others not being able to come on for various reasons). When you look at the amount of requests we get on here, a singal BM couldn't handle it all, so Admins are informed as well, and can remove the ones that are obviously wrong... ~ PheNaxKian Sysop 13:34, 15 December 2008 (EST)
Obviously wrong like "SH only has Adjacent range" or votes like "Cripshot is terrible" not votes that disagree with your opinion on a build. If you want to do that make an RFBM.----ﮎHædõ๘یíɳShadowsin sig 13:39, 15 December 2008 (EST)
Obvious fail votes yes I can agree with but then when anything contestable comes up a BM needs to know about it, because admins may and probably don't have the knowledge to decide whether removal is neccesarry. --Frosty 17:24, 15 December 2008 (EST)
Assume they do. — Rapta Rapta Icon1 (talk|contribs) 00:53, 16 December 2008 (EST)
No, You assume they do when they create RFBM and get it. Otherwise you assume they don't.----ﮎHædõ๘یíɳShadowsin sig 11:37, 16 December 2008 (EST)
No, you assume they do on the basis that you assume that they have enough self-judgment to be removing votes on issues that they are able to make an informed decision upon. Assume good faith. The moral here: don't be a douche. They're admins for a reason. That includes knowing what they themselves are capable of judging appropriately. If you're going to QQ, do so in the policy page for Admins. — Rapta Rapta Icon1 (talk|contribs) 15:47, 16 December 2008 (EST)

Vote Wipe Button

Could BM's/Admins possibly get a vote wipe button, where it asks you for the reason and then all the votes get removed for that reason? Helpful for vote wipes if it was a minor change etc. ~~     Frvwfr2     talk    contribs    admin   18:57, 18 December 2008 (EST)

One semi-related question: should archived builds all be votewiped? I second frv btw. -- Jebuscontests 19:18, 18 December 2008 (EST)
currently, policy suggest we should vote wipe archives, I believe Dont wants to remove that line(looking at the EB talk page). Also ()no offence meant by this) I fail to see what you seconding achieves when you lack access to said tools (or should said tools be implemented). I wouldn't mind a vote wipe button either in any case (though I can leave deleting and restoring). ~ PheNaxKian Sysop 12:04, 19 December 2008 (EST)
nah im just saying its a good idea. -- Jebuscontests 12:28, 19 December 2008 (EST)
On Dont's issues with the vope wipe thing, I removed it. I kinda wrote that part and realized I was being stupid when I wrote the whole vote wipe thing. It already hurt us deeply. --GoD Hammer and Sickle Guild of Deals 22:22, 21 December 2008 (EST)

Build Janitors

Like an admin but with no power to ban/remove votes and all that stuff. It would really help the wiki if a few people would be able to delete all the stupid redirects/welltaged/deletetaged build pages. Obviously would need some work but it means less crap for admins to do so they can get on making new stuff for the wiki, or more time to harass GWshack to fix or fucking outdated skills). Generally a Janitor, I know it would be hard to implement but just giving suggesting to how the wiki could move forward, instead of this current staticness. --Frosty 22:14, 21 December 2008 (EST)

TBH. --GoD Hammer and Sickle Guild of Deals 22:16, 21 December 2008 (EST)
it doesn't take long to delete crao, i could clear it all in about 30 mins if my internet was running smoothly. I've been looking into ways to make Grace expired easier to sort (at the moment it looks like an AWB, which I'll download and test later on). Making what new things?, just request it and someone will make it most likely (as long as there's a valid reason/need for it)the skills have been updated by GWShack, but the only person who can update them here is Gcard, i've left him a message on his talk page (a while ago), so he'll get round to it when he can. ~ PheNaxKian Sysop 06:55, 22 December 2008 (EST)
Why complicate the wiki? — Skakid Rally- kupo!S9M 12:13, 24 December 2008 (EST)
Same thoughts here. If you really want this just add the ability to delete pages to BM.--GoldenGoldenstarStar 12:14, 24 December 2008 (EST)

Supplement to Archive tag

Can we get a supplement to the archive tag so you can see what the category of a build (great/good/other) was before it was archived? as it is the only way to tell is to go check the rating page which is kind of annoying =\--GoldenGoldenstarStar 12:10, 24 December 2008 (EST)

this, cant make the category variable link to the right category though Cute McMonkeyChristmas Tab Rally-kupo! 12:27, 24 December 2008 (EST)
Awesome, that lookms great tab. Is it ready to use or should I continue to use the old archive template for now?--GoldenGoldenstarStar 12:38, 24 December 2008 (EST)
Keep using the old one, needs an admin to update it though Cute McMonkeyChristmas Tab Rally-kupo! 12:43, 24 December 2008 (EST)
Updated, uses tabs idea, but we have to go through and add the extra criteria onto the archived builds. ~ PheNaxKian Sysop 17:40, 28 December 2008 (EST)

Name Change

I think we should change the name of the wiki from PvXwiki to Ragewiki, since more flaming seems to happen than theorycrafting at this point. And that's saying something =\--GoldenGoldenstarStar 13:51, 31 December 2008 (EST)

PvXcode Issues

Coding issues related to PvXcode. See also PvXwiki talk:PvXcode. Resolved issues are moved here.

Please do not leave posts about skills not being up to date, we don't change the descriptions.

Mouse-over Attribute descriptions

Would it be possible to have mousing over an attribute display the in-game description of that attribute? ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 17:48, 9 June 2008 (EDT)

I agree with the idea, surely it could use the same wiki code or whatever as the ratings? When you hover over Innovation it gives you a description of it, surelt it could be done for attributes? /FrosTalk\ 07:59, 11 June 2008 (EDT)
I was thinking about that. It would be nice (especially when calculating things like Expertise and Critical Strikes). --File:GoD Wario Sig.JPG*Wah Wah Wah!* 07:59, 11 June 2008 (EDT)

Health Sacrifice

The fact that health sacrificed doesn't show up in the skill mouseover is kind of annoying. Is there any hope that it will be added? --CJNyfalt 17:35, 9 July 2008 (EDT)

I believe that that is GWshack's task, might be wrong though. Brandnew. 17:36, 9 July 2008 (EDT)
See here. Either gwshack is not up to date or <pvxbig> is not compatible. ~ ĐONT*SYSOP 19:27, 9 July 2008 (EDT)
It's a pvxcode problem. gwshack shows sacrifice costs as part of the skill cost now. ~ ZamaneeJinnSigZamanee(point out my idiocy) 19:37, 9 July 2008 (EDT)

Leadership glitch?

<pvxbig> [build prof=Para/War leadership=0+3]["Go for the Eyes!"][Watch Yourself!][Save Yourselves!][Save Yourselves! (Luxon)]["There's Nothing To Fear!"][/build] </pvxbig> Energy is shown for GftE and WY, but not SY. ☆Imbagon♥McSteve☆(LVPoW) Cuz Steve said so... ツ 16:04, 8 October 2008 (EDT)

i'm inclined to think that's more a GWBBcode thing than our end (could be wrong). PheNaxKian Sysop 16:38, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
Probably some Kurzick rank thingy that doesnt show up in PvX bar that affects leadership. I is *Jebus*IAmJebussig3Enter my contests! 17:54, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
nope. same with luxon. ☆Imbagon♥McSteve☆(LVPoW) Cuz Steve said so... ツ 18:03, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
Doesn't work with TNTF, must be something to do with pve skills. Ojamo (>.<(O=(- -Q) 18:06, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
(EC)hmm it might be linked to the PvE rank. even if you put @3 it doesn't change anything (it doesn't even show what the duration should be). Just leave it a while, Hippo or GCard will see this eventually, amd if it's our code they'll fix it. If it's GWBBcode, i've left GCard a message asking him to update to the new version (with their being a new version) hopefully it's been fixed in that version. if not then just tough I guess =p, not much we can do. PheNaxKian Sysop 18:09, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
IIRC, leadership energy bonuses don't show up with energy-based shouts. But I could be wrong. – talkInfidel sigcontribs 13:42, 6 December 2008 (EST)

Its the energy cost is underlined like in the above link, while it isnt underlined in TNTF. --- Monk-icon-Ressmonkey Ressmonkey (talk) 13:46, 6 December 2008 (EST)

PvXbig links

More of a suggestion than anything. Basically when you use PvXbig without the build information (so you can get a mouseover description of a skill, like this: <pvxbig>[[glyph of lesser energy@0]</pvxbig> which is <pvxbig>[[glyph of lesser energy@0]</pvxbig>) it would be nice if when you clicked on it, it linked to the GWW article. ~ PheNaxKian Sysop 13:32, 6 December 2008 (EST)

Hello, can't you update the gwbbcode database? On gwshack forums they have a new database which is up to date, can't you just replace that with yours? see also: http://gwshack.us/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14402 2nd post Vashan 08:57, 21 December 2008 (EST)
Only GCard can do that, i left him a message a while ago, but he's busy with RL. ~ PheNaxKian Sysop 09:17, 21 December 2008 (EST)

ok i made a build in my userpage, then added testing section template, then moved it to Build: whatever, however it does not show up.
