The Admin noticeboard

There are a number of issues that can only be solved by an Administrator. The Admin noticeboard is one of the means through which users can contact Administrators in order to identify a problem that needs Administrative attention. Although editors are welcome to directly contact particular Administrators, posting on this page instead may be an easier way to let the entire Administrative group know of the issue (which may be particularly helpful since it increases the odds that at least one Administrator will see, and thus be able to respond to, the issue promptly).

There are only a limited number of things for which this page should be used. Many problems can be solved without Administrative intervention, and, thus, this page should be restricted to those issues that actually require an Administrator. Those are: blocking vandals, (un)deleting pages, (un)protecting pages, removing votes (either as per Real Vetting or because the build has been substantially edited), and mediation (only if the situation demands it).

Even in cases of vandalism, posting on this page needn't be the first step (and indeed should not be the first step). If you see vandalism, just go ahead and revert it, anyone has the power to do so. If it's a new article with no safe version to revert back to, tag it for deletion. In both cases you should leave a message in the talk page of that user to make him/her aware of why that kind of edit is unacceptable on PvXwiki. Only post here if that user persists in his/her actions, ignoring the warnings or if the content requires immediate Administrative attention (eg. if the material on the page is so offensive that should be immediately deleted).

(Be careful in case that user repeatedly insists on vandalizing, avoid a revert war; it's far better to temporarily leave the vandalized version of the page up until an admin has a chance to intervene.)

To create a new request: add an item to the bottom of the list below, providing a brief, neutral summary of the issue. As a sign of courtesy, also leave a message on the talk page of any other involved users so they are aware of this discussion. If you are alerting an admin of a vandal, use the {{IP}} template, with the first parameter being the vandal's IP or username. If you are requesting that vote(s) be removed, please use the {{Build}} template, with the first parameter being the build's name.

General Issues

General issues include (un)deleting pages, (un)protecting pages, banning vandals, and moderating serious disputes. This section may also be used for miscellaneous issues as well as Administrative announcements. See resolved issues here.

A/any_Deadly_Shroud_Impaler (talk · rate)

This build strongly need revision of votes... Talkin about vote of Champion, Rapta, Skakid9090, Krowman and maybe more... The preceding unsigned comment was added by Taan (talk • contribs) .

And, why? Skak's vote should be restored, I'll be restoring my own. Everyone who voted that build down is absolutely in the right. That build uses one skill to disable all its skills, another to disable all its spells. It's as useless as a practice target. It's sole purpose (SoS) is easily countered by the most common form of hex removal since GW's inception (Veil). So, one skill trumps the entire build, and thus the character slot you wasted to bring it. In TA, teams (read: good ones) bring off-monk healing/support, so having a minimally-useless is not an insurmountable problem, and it certainly does less harm to the other team than it does to your own. Just use knock-lock, then you at least get some damage, DW, etc out of the deal, while still being able to do something with your character. 0-0-0 isn't only for total failures, 5-5-5s aren't reserved for only GW's greatest builds. - Kowal Krowman {{sysop}} 21:24, 24 September 2007 (CEST)
That 0-0-0 and 5-5-5 thing was discussed at one point. I recall that 0's were for total failurs and 5's were for über epic. That is one of the reasons you have to get a 2.5 before you are even considered for the "other" range. єяøהħ 21:29, 24 September 2007 (CEST)
(Conflict)It is a working build. How can you say it doesn't work AT ALL? How common is Veil in HB or RA? Monks arent even very common in RA. It def. works, so I will remove again... and, does this count as RV1? We really need to clarify that. ~~ User:Frvwfr2 frvwfr2 (T/C/Sysop) 21:30, 24 September 2007 (CEST)
Yes, on both of you I think? Or at least if Krowman re-adds after your second removal it will be. єяøהħ 21:33, 24 September 2007 (CEST)
Link? A failure is a failure, whether it's a 49.5% failure or a 0% failure. Each one will get deleted. - Kowal Krowman {{sysop}} 21:36, 24 September 2007 (CEST)
Monks aren't common? They're as common as any other prof, it is the absence of the Monk that is simply more noticeable than, say, the absence of a Ranger. Veil is common everywhere, because it allows for pre-Veiling, hex removal as fast as you can double-click (fastest in the game), and the recharge is win (don't even compare to RH, it is too vulnerable to interruption, which HV coincidentally isn't). Keep removing the low scores and you're reinforcing a broken system. - Kowal Krowman {{sysop}} 21:36, 24 September 2007 (CEST)
Krow, the thing is, if you think a build fails about 50%, but you mark it as 100% fail, then that offsets the people who only think it fails 45%, 35% and even 20%. A relatively successful build's rating can be completely distorted by a single vote of 100% fail rather than 50% fail. So if you believe its 50% fail and not 100%, vote so. Idk, it's hard to describe. (ps, It's also a terrible blow to author to get a strait 000 when the build works decently.) єяøהħ 21:40, 24 September 2007 (CEST)
Well, all but one of the build's skills are disabled (by the build itself). That's pretty very nearly total failure. The one skill that is still usable is countered by one of the most common and prevalent skills in the game. That's fail. Tbh, we're here to document good builds, not to make people feel good about themselves. I'm not trying to be overly mean to any of you guys, but that build is comparable to running a Signet of Midnight Warrior. - Kowal Krowman {{sysop}} 21:46, 24 September 2007 (CEST)

Me/N Angorodon's Parasite (talk · rate)

Talk page somehow got deleted when somebody moved it. Can it be be restored? It would be either Build_talk:Me/Any Test Build or Build_talk:Mo/Any Test Build. --Teh Uber Pwnzer 02:32, 22 September 2007 (CEST)

Looking through the histories/deletion logs, here's what appears to have happened to the talk page:
  • The build was moved to Build:Me/Any Test Build by Slay at 11:26. The talk page went with it.
  • Slay then moved the build to Build:Mo/Any Test Build at 11:30. The talk page went with it.
  • At 12:46, Eronth moved Build:Mo/Any Test Build back to Build:Me/N Angorodon's Parasite.
  • At 12:47, Eronth deleted Build talk:Me/Any Test Build, which just contained a redirect.
  • Also at 12:47, Eronth deleted Build talk:Mo/Any Test Build. However, the deletion summary was 'page was empty', not 'content was: '#REDIRECT Build talk:Mo/Any Test Build' (and the only contributor was 'Slay')'. This means it's likely that at some point the talk page was blanked.
  • At 12:52, Eronth deleted Build talk:Me/N Angorodon's Parasite, which just contained a redirect.
  • There is no record in the move log of Build talk:Mo/Any Test Build being moved back to Build talk:Me/N Angorodon's Parasite.
Shortly before this, there had been several anon ip's vandalizing the page. Slay was also a vandal. Looking in their user contributions, I see no edits made to the talk page, but I'm not sure if they'd show up for a deleted page. --Wizardboy777 04:19, 22 September 2007 (CEST)
They wouldn't. Defiant Elements Sig Test 2 *Defiant Elements* +talk 05:02, 22 September 2007 (CEST)
Also, looking back at what I found, I'm wondering why the talk page didn't go back when eronth moved the build. There's no record for the talk page (of the Mo/Any) being moved anywhere, but according to the logs, the talk page was deleted after the build was moved. --Wizardboy777 00:38, 23 September 2007 (CEST)
Well, because of the constant and rapid movements/edits made to the page and the rollbacks and movebacks, I think a lot of the history overwrote itself and pretended not to exsist. It was a bit of a mess and I only had one other non-admin on who helped me out at the time. єяøהħ 21:12, 24 September 2007 (CEST)
Found it, someone (I think a vandal IP) blanked it just before one of the moves. I missed that and thought we were just moving random crap. [1] єяøהħ 21:31, 24 September 2007 (CEST)

Coding Issues

Coding refers to any issue or bug that needs to be dealt with by a Server Administrator (Gcardinal or Hhhippo). See resolved issues here.

Rate Tab

This is directed at gcard or anyone who has coding experience. Is there anyway for you to be able to have the rate tab available while on the discussion tab? It's kinda annoying to go to the build tab again just to rate something after adding to the discussion. --Lost 05:43, 24 August 2007 (CEST)

I agree, it is a lil annoying... hardly priority though. Search system>this. --User:Frvwfr2 frvwfr2 (T/C/Sysop) 05:58, 24 August 2007 (CEST)

Vote Removal

Since you guys keep the back-end work pretty much to GCardinal and Hhhippo, I'll request here an ability to restore removed votes. Shouldn't be too hard, and it is easier than posting on the users talk pages and getting them to do it themselves. Less aggravating too. Thanks. - Kowal Krowman {{sysop}} 05:45, 30 August 2007 (CEST)

  • Castigation Signet.
  • Plague Touch.

Skills that scale incorrectly

  • Sundering Weapon
  • Angorodon's Gaze
  • Radiant Scythe

EOTN Title Specific Skills

The 50 EOTN PvE Title Track based skills don't work when trying to create a build. Currently, I have left them as optional and inserted a comment underneath which says about the skills. ---Andyhhp

Auto set primary attributes@0

It would be nice if PvXcode would assume values for all attributes (or at least primary ones) to be set to 0 unless otherwise stated. If time's an issue, though, ignore this and work on things like PvXsmall and PvXmicro. -- Armond WarbladeArmond sig image{{sysop}} 16:40, 2 August 2007 (CEST)

Speaking as a programmer, there are some things you'd have to watch with that:
  • A) You don't want it to do that for title-specific skills.
  • B) Builds that don't have any attributes listed should probably show the whole range, that might be a bigger issue with pvxsmall/micro, cause the whole point of using those is to take up less room and leaving out the attribs accomplishes that pretty well.
  • C) Just displaying single skills outside of builds (just <pvxbig>[Shock]</pvxwiki>, for example) should show the whole range.
And yes, having it do that would be nice. I keep having to go around putting @0's in glyph of lesser energy's. --Wizardboy777 01:15, 21 September 2007 (CEST)

Profession links in PvXBig

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but when you click on the profession header of a PvX bar, it takes you to an official wiki site. For illustration, clicking on either 'Elementalist' or 'Assassin' takes you to the official wiki, while clicking on the skills and attributes themselves takes you to GWiki. <pvxbig> [build prof=eleme/assassin airmag=12+1+1 energy=8+1 shadow=10 deadly=2][mind shock][lightning strike][lightning bolt][blinding flash][recall][dash][deadly paradox][feigned neutrality][/build] </pvxbig> Like I said, I'm not sure if this qualifies as a bug or just an oddity, but I figured I'd bring it to your attention to be safe. - Kowal Krowman {{sysop}} 04:22, 3 August 2007 (CEST)

Watchlist bug

Not sure if this is a bug with MediaWiki or what, but I have the page Build:Me/N Well of Illusions on my watchlist, and even after I visit it several times it still thinks I haven't looked at it since its last update (its still in bold). Other pages act normally. This has happened in the past, but it goes away after a while. --Wizardboy777 00:50, 14 September 2007 (CEST)

Happens every once. I use the mark all as read function to bypass it. Still a bug tho Swiftslash \\ Impale (contributions *warrior guide) 16:56, 14 September 2007 (CEST)
Ditto. –Ichigo724Ichigo-signature 17:07, 14 September 2007 (CEST)
Have seen that, too. Seems to be a Mediawiki thing. I think it's something like the wiki believes a page is on the watchlist but the talk page is not, or vice versa. The one that is not on the watchlist will not trigger the 'read' status. A workaround is to unwatch and watch again. Make sure that both page and talk page are watched (that should usually be the case automatically). – HHHIPPO ‹sysop› 04:06, 15 September 2007 (CEST)
