The Admin noticeboard

There are a number of issues that can only be solved by an Administrator. The Admin noticeboard is one of the means through which users can contact Administrators in order to identify a problem that needs Administrative attention. Although editors are welcome to directly contact particular Administrators, posting on this page instead may be an easier way to let the entire Administrative group know of the issue (which may be particularly helpful since it increases the odds that at least one Administrator will see, and thus be able to respond to, the issue promptly).

There are only a limited number of things for which this page should be used. Many problems can be solved without Administrative intervention, and, thus, this page should be restricted to those issues that actually require an Administrator. Those are: blocking vandals, (un)deleting pages, (un)protecting pages, removing votes (either as per Real Vetting or because the build has been substantially edited), and mediation (only if the situation demands it).

Even in cases of vandalism, posting on this page needn't be the first step (and indeed should not be the first step). If you see vandalism, just go ahead and revert it, anyone has the power to do so. If it's a new article with no safe version to revert back to, tag it for deletion. In both cases you should leave a message in the talk page of that user to make him/her aware of why that kind of edit is unacceptable on PvXwiki. Only post here if that user persists in his/her actions, ignoring the warnings or if the content requires immediate Administrative attention (eg. if the material on the page is so offensive that should be immediately deleted).

(Be careful in case that user repeatedly insists on vandalizing, avoid a revert war; it's far better to temporarily leave the vandalized version of the page up until an admin has a chance to intervene.)

To create a new request: add an item to the bottom of the list below, providing a brief, neutral summary of the issue. As a sign of courtesy, also leave a message on the talk page of any other involved users so they are aware of this discussion. If you are alerting an admin of a vandal, use the {{IP}} template, with the first parameter being the vandal's IP or username. If you are requesting that vote(s) be removed, please use the {{Build}} template, with the first parameter being the build's name.

Please place new requests at the bottom of the corresponding issues heading.

General Issues

General issues include (un)deleting pages, (un)protecting pages, banning vandals, and moderating serious disputes. This section may also be used for miscellaneous issues as well as Administrative announcements. See resolved issues here.

Ambiguous skill description - Arcing Shot

The mouse over description on arcing shot claims that the arrow moves 150% slower, this is not the case, it moves 50% slower, and takes 150% normal time to reach its target, I hope that is the correct place to bring this to attention, if not could an admin tell me where i should put this, thank you. --marty 10000--

I think we have to use version 2.0. We took over quite some content from Guild Wiki, and they use 2.0 with no note on the possibility of silent upgrades. Suggestions

Categorization Suggestion

Two suggestions: 1) You might want to add Hero as a profession so users can see viable hero builds without having to wade through all of the ones that heros do not use adequately. 2) A List of builds by function might also be in order. Basically all of the builds fall into one category of character or another. Your character is a tank, nuker, spiker, healer, minion master, etc and when looking for a build user's frequently have this type of organization in mind. -- Sabardeyn 00:14, 23 February 2008 (EST)

LOL - I'm too new to builds to really be an effective categorizer for the project. Let me explain it this way... When reading most Builds in PvXWiki I have to spend a minimum of 30 minutes figuring the build out. Particularly for those builds which presume that the potential user (me) is aware of game mechanics, synergy between skills, etc that come with experience. As for the hero listing, my bad. Zaishen is a relatively insignificant part of the game. It doesn't last long, and the only reason people do it is for easy faction. If a user places the Testing template into their userpage, the right thing to do is either to remove the template, or add the nowiki tags so that it doesn't appear in Testing. Build-Specific Issues

Build-Specific refers to any issue pertaining to the removal of votes, usually resolved by a Build Master or Administrator. See resolved issues here.

If you wish to dispute another user's vote, it is advised to do so on the build's talk page. This section of the noticeboard is intended to notify Admins or Build Masters of issues that can be speedily resolved (e.g. factually incorrect votes) or issues in need of mediation. Avoid debating builds or votes here.

Note: If applicable, please identify specific votes to improve admin response time.

This is going overboard. A user is only required to have a single contribution (as per PW:VETTING) in order to be able to vote. Furthermore, presumption of a user who has only voted on one build with an honest rating with a comment better than most violates PW:AGF. Cool idea i think

PvE Attributes Counter

Someone hasn't clsoed PvXBig tags, had this problem before(see resolved issues and Team GvG or something like that), think an admin needs to do it (not sure how you edit it when it's like that....), but seen as the issues arised again, can i direct this more at GC or Hippo-could it be made possiable not to save a page unless all Pvxbig tags are closed to prevent this happening again? template.php Bug

The script to save the builds has a bug. Some build templates have a '+' in it, like Build:R/Mo_Magebane_Shot_Ranger. The problem with this is that the + is a url escape character for a ' ' space, so the script returns a file with a ' ' where a '+' should be. Fixing this is easy, just urlencode($template) before you write back the file. THC4k 07:22, 21 February 2008 (EST)

Just a thought, but we might want to make sure you can't insert a style sheet into any pages here. If I wanted to wreak havoc myself, I'd make a 5mil char style sheet and insert it into a few dozen pages at once on here. I mean, that's how they trash most servers nowadays when not wanting to go internal.
