The Admin noticeboard

There are a number of issues that can only be solved by an Administrator. The Admin noticeboard is one of the means through which users can contact Administrators in order to identify a problem that needs Administrative attention. Although editors are welcome to directly contact particular Administrators, posting on this page instead may be an easier way to let the entire Administrative group know of the issue (which may be particularly helpful since it increases the odds that at least one Administrator will see, and thus be able to respond to, the issue promptly).

There are only a limited number of things for which this page should be used. Many problems can be solved without Administrative intervention, and, thus, this page should be restricted to those issues that actually require an Administrator. Those are: blocking vandals, (un)deleting pages, (un)protecting pages, removing votes (either as per Real Vetting or because the build has been substantially edited), and mediation (only if the situation demands it).

Even in cases of vandalism, posting on this page needn't be the first step (and indeed should not be the first step). If you see vandalism, just go ahead and revert it, anyone has the power to do so. If it's a new article with no safe version to revert back to, tag it for deletion. In both cases you should leave a message in the talk page of that user to make him/her aware of why that kind of edit is unacceptable on PvXwiki. Only post here if that user persists in his/her actions, ignoring the warnings or if the content requires immediate Administrative attention (eg. if the material on the page is so offensive that should be immediately deleted).

(Be careful in case that user repeatedly insists on vandalizing, avoid a revert war; it's far better to temporarily leave the vandalized version of the page up until an admin has a chance to intervene.)

To create a new request: add an item to the bottom of the list below, providing a brief, neutral summary of the issue. As a sign of courtesy, also leave a message on the talk page of any other involved users so they are aware of this discussion. If you are alerting an admin of a vandal, use the {{IP}} template, with the first parameter being the vandal's IP or username. If you are requesting that vote(s) be removed, please use the {{Build}} template, with the first parameter being the build's name.

Note that this is not a talk page and that the respective moderators of each section reserve the right to remove non-administrative comments without discussion.

Please place new requests at the bottom of the corresponding issues heading.

General Issues

General problems, such as user conduct, vandalism, and bans. Also, suggestions can be posted here. All can be resolved by an Administrator. See resolved General Issues here.

Mr.Onion is Igor, see his posts on User talk:Godliest, look at his user page, realise the first thing he did was ask how to submit a build, pretending he didn't know what he was doing, although he has made several contributions since then without submitting a build. He defended one of Sorrow's builds on User talk:Rupsie, backing up Saz and despite being new and apparently not knowing how to write a build, he has removed build tags from the user space, cause apparently he knows that. I know the IPs aren't the same, I know they aren't proxies, Igor has just switched to a new ISP with dynamic IP addresses, which is why the first two numbers don't change. You can listen to all that, or just trust my eerie psychic powers which new it was Igor when I read the first comments on Godliest's page, the rest was just to gather evidence. I advise banning and see where the QQ comes from. He's getting smarter, at least he didn't run straight to Saz's talk page this time. - Misery Is Friendly Misery Dog obaby 15:14, 11 October 2008 (EDT)

Skill changes

While PvPing, i noticed frequently today that it said "<insert skill> has been updated." For example, at 11 Inspiration Magic, Mantra of Inscriptions shortened the recharge for signets by 43% or so. After it said "updated", then it was only around 23%. These updates did not show up in recent updates, so either we dont get information fast enough or the changes arent final and Anet isnt posting them on the Guild Wars website. Build-Specific Issues

Build-Specific refers to any issue pertaining to the removal of votes, usually resolved by a Build Master or Administrator. See resolved issues here.

If you wish to dispute another user's vote, it is advised to do so on the build's talk page. This section of the noticeboard is intended to notify Admins or Build Masters of issues that can be speedily resolved (e.g. factually incorrect votes) or issues in need of mediation. Avoid debating builds or votes here.

Note: If applicable, please identify specific votes to improve admin response time.

Also "Shureshot" wrote "Not enough dmg to kill the master of dmg use BB and win more". Sanctum Cay

We absolutely need 10 different builds for solo running a mission that six 8-year-olds could get through in half the time, since there aren't any other missions that can both be run more often and for higher profit. --Mafaraxas (talk) 11:31, 14 October 2008 (EDT)

Along with things like Varesh or Shiro farming. Bad drops for an easy mission. But i cant see how we can delete this without adding a new policy. After all, someone could make a build to farm a certain easy area cause it gets xp and nobody else has made a build for that area, so we cant well it. Some logic could be to well it saying that some areas have better drops/xp and the build is inferior to those, but then we should well every farming build thats not DoA, TotPK, FoW, or UW. Which isnt too bad of an idea. Although some things are worth farming cause theyre easy (raptor, vermin) Error converting thumbnail:Image:JebusSigNew.jpg IAmJebusSig5Enter my contests! 14:55, 14 October 2008 (EDT)
I'd made Build:Team - Sanctum Cay Team which allowed me to tag the running builds for WELL, but Phailnaxkian deleted my build for unknown reasons. Mission running builds are fine if you can actually make a profit (i.e. Shiro HM) and the mission is arguably difficult for pugs, but sanctum cay is a joke. --Mafaraxas (talk) 19:23, 14 October 2008 (EDT)

They are the same thing (the first is just the code for the 2nd link), but the idea is the little search bar in the top right corner of firefox (at least for me), but one for PvX. I already asked for a searchplugin for the browser toolbar; Armond replied that it wasn't the best way to search pvx, but to stay tuned for some new feature for searching pvx (but apprently unrelated to what you and I asked for). The xml coding of a searchplugin seems trivial, but I discovered no administrative interest in it. The fact that this server is not running the newest versions of all software is discouraging; I think that using the newest versions of everything couldn't hurt in making this site more hacker-resistant. --War Pig5 18:25, 9 October 2008 (EDT)

Not entirely sure what you're asking, but if you want to change the font on PvX, you can go to Special:Mypage/monobook.css and add body { font-family:"blah"; } But I have a feeling that's not what you're asking, so clarify please. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 18:51, 16 September 2008 (EDT)
i think he's talking about the font families. like Times New Roman and that stuff. CABOSE(LVPoW)"Hey chicka bum bum!" 19:07, 16 September 2008 (EDT)
As far as I know, all fonts are user-side only; that is, I could set the font in my sig to Times New Roman, but if I didn't have Times New Roman installed on my computer, the browser would just revert to the default font. Similarly, I could be a pro and make up my own font family that no one else has and use it for my sig; in that case, my browser would recognize and use it just fine, but everyone else's browsers wouldn't recognize it and revert to their browsers' default fonts instead. --Mafaraxas (talk) 19:33, 16 September 2008 (EDT)
Meh like for example if i created my own font, is it possible to load said font into pvx, and for multiple users to use it and it would display correctly on their browsers.--XCrossfire Godlysig14 20:36, 16 September 2008 (EDT)
As long as the people you care about have the font on their computer, it would work, and there wouldn't be any need for you to upload the font to PvX. I don't think PvX even has the capability for users to upload anything other than images. If you want to get the font to your friends, just upload the font file to a third party file sharing site, then tell your friends to download from there and copypasta into their font folder. --Mafaraxas (talk) 22:13, 16 September 2008 (EDT)

Display issues with Safari Browser

Well, I recently downloaded the new Safari browser and i like it a lot. However, there seems to be some kind of display issue with PvX. The navigation bar that is supposed to appear on the left hand side of each article is just a blank white area and the links from that are pushed down to the very bottom of the page below the white area. Could be something to do with my computer, but can someone else using safari confirm? Thanks Peter 02:58, 26 September 2008 (EDT)

Yea, the sidebar links are getting pushed down below the article body on every page. I'll look into it and see if I can change the css or something to fix it if I have time. Hhhippo might know how to fix it. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 17:44, 26 September 2008 (EDT)
Nothing I've tried fixes it. It's entirely possible it's a safari bug. But if anyone else who knows some css wants to try to figure it out, here's a summary of what I tried:
  1. Reducing the width of the article body and/or sidebar just leaves a bigger gap between them.
  2. Changing the white-space:nowrap in the h4, h5, and h6's for .portlet to white-space:normal removes the big section of whitespace, and the sidebar looks normal... except that it's still shoved down below the article.
  3. Changing the border, padding, and margin for .portlet and #pBody did nothing.
I tried more than this, but I don't remember it all. Also, guildwiki, GWW, and wikipedia all look normal in Safari. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 18:26, 26 September 2008 (EDT)
Confirmed, no other wikis seem to be having this issue. Peter 07:53, 27 September 2008 (EDT)
Opera, IE, Firefox, and Chrome all load the wiki fine. I'm guessing it's a rendering issue in Safari. If you want, I could try to write up a CSS that'll fix it for just you that you can put in your monobook. Cedave bad  ツ cedave (☆contributions☆) 20:24, 28 September 2008 (EDT)

<pvxbig> [build prof=Para/War leadership=0+3]["Go for the Eyes!"][Watch Yourself!][Save Yourselves!][Save Yourselves! (Luxon)]["There's Nothing To Fear!"][/build] </pvxbig> Energy is shown for GftE and WY, but not SY. ☆Imbagon♥McSteve☆(LVPoW) Cuz Steve said so... ツ 16:04, 8 October 2008 (EDT)

i'm inclined to think that's more a GWBBcode thing than our end (could be wrong). PheNaxKian Sysop 16:38, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
Probably some Kurzick rank thingy that doesnt show up in PvX bar that affects leadership. I is *Jebus*IAmJebussig3Enter my contests! 17:54, 8 October 2008 (EDT)

Doesn't work with TNTF, must be something to do with pve skills. Ojamo (>.<(O=(- -Q) 18:06, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
(EC)hmm it might be linked to the PvE rank. even if you put @3 it doesn't change anything (it doesn't even show what the duration should be). Just leave it a while, Hippo or GCard will see this eventually, amd if it's our code they'll fix it. If it's GWBBcode, i've left GCard a message asking him to update to the new version (with their being a new version) hopefully it's been fixed in that version. if not then just tough I guess =p, not much we can do.
