General Information

This is a sugested Policy on how to handle Premade builds and what can be done to improve the quality and availablility of this information. This section is, by default, aimed towards new PVP players and attempts to get them moving towards self improvement of their PVP skills. A lot can be done to further Expand and Improve this area.

I feel improving this section would accomplish several things:
  • Give new PVP players a solid starting point in finding builds aimed directly at them. A newbie area if you will.
  • Give new PVP players a progressive training plan to further improve their skills.
  • Document widely known and accepted "staples" of the PVP community.
  • Reduce the overall number of 'bad builds' on the wiki (with education comes better quality and thinking).
  • Help reduce 'copy cat' builds that people throw onto PVX.
  • Gives a refrence of old ideas and previous meta game tactics and strategies that may help improve new ideas.
  • Mitigate the number of "For New Players" type builds that some authors feel the need to create.

Section Arcetecture

The following Categories are used in this section:

  • Premade builds - The starting builds and the recomended uses and skill unlocks as documented by the PvP Primer. The page was allready in existance (and on the front page) and I recently updated it to include the 6 missing builds and source documentation for each.
  • Primer Follow-up - Also taken from the PvP Primer. These builds were specifically aimed at improvement of understanding PVP play and team oriented builds. And are natural learning builds to the basic PVP character roles.
  • Premade Legacy - Gives us a place to put discontinued pre-made builds to better rotate the Premade builds area. (The old Premades will also be retained here for historical reference.)
  • "State of the Game" - Builds:, Team Builds:, and Team Components: as documented in the "State of the Game" articles.
  • 'Organization', 'refrence', or 'consolodation' pages can be created as needed to better organize and make availble the information posted in these area's.

Section Rules

  • Any build posted to this section must be documented in the Guildwars.com PVP Articles or other approved source.
  • Builds here are exempt from vetting or alteration - They are usually build theories and trainers that typically use common skills or skills available to one Campaign, or are aimed at a specific skill user level. To change them may defeat the usefulness of these builds to developing players. The exeption to this is when these builds are changed in the appropriate Guildwars.com article (They periodically go back and update these to keep current with skill balancing).
  • No specific 'Guides' will be written unless comissioned by a PVX Admin. We are in the buisness of documenting builds, not writing guides. As such each build will have a link to the appropriate page where the build was pulled from.
  • Every build will be Specifically written for each section, and followed by a parenthasis suffix for easy identification.
Premades recieve (premade) after the build in it's title.
Primer Builds will recieve (primer follow-up) after the title to reflect their status as follow-ups to the pre-mades.
State of the Game builds will recieve (SotG) after thier titles.
Any article being archived in the Premade Legacy section will recieve (premade legacy) after their title.
  • Builds for this section will not recieve any additional category tags to place it in any other section but the one it was written for, so as not to show up in places like 'Favored GVG' or 'Unfavored PVE' Etc. Etc.
