Restoring Votes

Right. We don't store the full history of votes, that is edits, removals and restores. At the moment only the last version is kept in the database. I think it would look confusing to have a reason for a restore with a vote, but no sign of when and why and by whom it was removed in the first place. The restoring reason is just a dummy entry at the moment. To implement a full history is on the long-term to do list :-) – HHHIPPO ‹sysop› 13:36, 17 May 2008 (EDT)

When a build is moved to user space...

It keeps the votes on it. Is there a way to check its namespace, and if it isn't the Build: space, it wipes the votes? ~~     Frvwfr2     talk    contribs    admin   09:17, 22 May 2008 (EDT)

I tested this, and basically, when a build with votes is moved to userspace (or probably anywhere outside of the Build: namespace), the ratings still show on recentratings and userratings, but the links to the page don't work (when I moved it to User:Wizardboy777/Test, the links on recentratings and userratings went to Build:Wizardboy777/Test), there's no rate tab on the page and &action=rate doesn't work (I'm assuming it's set up to only work in the Build: namespace). ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 15:40, 22 May 2008 (EDT)
I did more testing, and if one creates the page Build:Wizardboy777/Test while User:Wizardboy777/Test (the one with the rating) still exists, recentratings will link to the first one, but that one won't have any votes. Also, I think auto-wiping votes when moved out of the Build: namespace would be a bad idea. Normal users would be able to wipe votes. Just have recentratings and userratings not display ratings for pages not in the Build: namespace. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 15:53, 22 May 2008 (EDT)

About links in the skill bars: That's a PvXcode thing, mainly gcardinal's area. I think as a quick solution putting one link on the skill icon and the other on the name should be easy. About GW: and GWW: changing the interwiki link mechanism is major surgery to the engine. Anyway, I'd like to keep the possibility for authors to decide where they want to link. What we could try is making an additional magic word like __GW__ which would then translate into GW: or GWW: depending on the reader's preferences. But I didn't look into the details yet, no idea how much work it would be. – HHHIPPO ‹sysop› 10:01, 1 November 2007 (CET)

Build Master Implementation

So, as per general consensus, we're planning on doing a trial run to test out the impact of BMs on PvX. For New Players

I had no idea which section to put this, so i put it here. I think that we need a section for new players to give them specific details on how to make a build, how to put images on it, how to make links to other websites(like youtube for an example of the build) and also how to transfer web images to PVX, and lastly, how to make your homepage. When i joined(about 3 weeks ago, but ive known this website since it came out), i had trouble doing this, and i still dont know how to make pictuers, so i think that this would be helpful. And it'd also be imperative we make our policy page significantly tidier, if we were to point newbs to them. This'd be, then, a huge endeavor. Shogunshen Sig Shen(contribs) 15:33, 21 January 2008 (EST)

No, you can't use <a>. However, you can use <span id="Header"></span> and then FULLPAGENAME#Header. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 23:26, 27 June 2008 (EDT)

If there's a space in front of text or whatever, it gets the "background" of the <pre> tag. It's kinda fucking annoying to edit it and fix it, so if anybody would mind, you know, seeing what the issue is, that would make my pants all funny. --GoD Wario Sig*Wah Wah Wah!* 17:45, 13 July 2008 (EDT)

That's not a bug, that's Mediawiki markup. We're not going to invent a new language here. You can get indentation without special effects using a colon. – HHHIPPO ‹sysop› 03:16, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
Well, I've seen new users write entire build articles with spaces before every line. It is annoying to fix, but as Hhhippo said, that's a feature, not a bug. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 15:47, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
We had this conversation on IRC (on #gww anyway), Poke was telling me there's no reasonable way to change that....i think the only solution he could come up with was to disable pre completely....which is a stupid solution. (he might have come up with another way but i'm not looking through logs for it =s) ~PheNaxKian (T/c) Phenaxkian sig phoenix 16:09, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
We had pre disabled for a while. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 16:20, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

RealVetting Updated

I made the following changes to the rating extension:

 • Users who don't fulfill the requirements for voting can now see the existing votes in read-only mode, together with a message explaining why they can't vote. In particular, anonymous users can view the votes.
 • Innovation was changed to a checkbox. It is displayed as 'O' or 'X' for each user's vote and as a percentage value in the totals. The weighting was not changed.

Comments and test results are welcome on my talk page. – HHHIPPO ‹sysop› 17:48, 11 August 2008 (EDT)

Sort Function

This is a perfect example of this function. Not sure what we could use it for, but we could find some use... Sort builds by Effect/Univ/Inno maybe? If we ever get that function. ~~     Frvwfr2     talk    contribs    admin   20:52, 14 May 2008 (EDT)

Changing the vlink Attribute

I've tried about every combination/position I can think of. Is it possible to change the color of vlinks on the wiki? Choytw sig 1ChoytW [POND] 17:28, 22 July 2008 (EDT)

i'd assume you'd have to alter your monobook.css...(i'm assuming Vlinks are the gww:andgw:)
He's talking about the "visited" property of a link. He wants to change the website's default color of a link that you've visited to some other color for a selection of specific links. - PANIC! Panic sig4 sexiness! 20:01, 22 July 2008 (EDT)
Visited links' color can be changed only by CSS. So you have to change your monobook (User:username/monobook.css). Add the following entry:
a:visited {
	color: #660099;
Use color of your choice. Note that the changes will be seen only by you and applies to all links. ~ ĐONT*SYSOP 00:22, 23 July 2008 (EDT)

Using #ifeq

Can we use that function here? If so, I have some questions concerning how I'm trying to implement it. ╠╣Ω¥†\/[ÞΩ┌┐Ð] 21:12, 11 August 2008 (EDT)

Ok...I got #ifeq to work, but only by removing the conditional code and putting it on its own template and including it into the original template. This works when I don't want it to show up, but when I do, none of the formatting is carrying over to the part which is a template inside a template. Is it because it is twice removed or is there a work-around (I even tried something like {PAGENAME}.variable lol). I appreciate any help I get with this. ╠╣Ω¥†\/[ÞΩ┌┐Ð] 22:51, 11 August 2008 (EDT)

it has been two figured it was time for a bump. If someone knows who to ask on their talk, please pass it along. Thanks ╠╣Ω¥†\/[ÞΩ┌┐Ð] 20:31, 13 August 2008 (EDT)
Hhhippo or GCard are probably the right people - But GCard hasn't been on in a while, and Hhhippo usually checks the noticeboard. ~~     Frvwfr2     talk    contribs    admin   20:33, 13 August 2008 (EDT)
Question: Are you using it correctly? It seems to be working. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 01:47, 14 August 2008 (EDT)
If you would like, you can take a look at the history here I stopped using it until I can get it fixed. The difficulty seemed to happen when I tried to use the value for a variable on the inclusion page to get something to show up. If you want a more detailed explanation, feel free to drop a message on my talk. ╠╣Ω¥†\/[ÞΩ┌┐Ð] 15:20, 14 August 2008 (EDT)

Ifeq should be working, never had problems with it. I didn't check in detail what you did, but it might be connected to using several templates calling each other, with more than one parameter each. Then the parser loses the overview on which argument goes to which template. It's not a proper programming language, it's just wikicode, so don't expect too much... – HHHIPPO ‹sysop› 03:34, 15 August 2008 (EDT)

moved to HHHIPPO's talk page. All help is welcome (I think I still have some ectos in game which I'll give all I have to whoever can find a solution lol) ╠╣Ω¥†\/[ÞΩ┌┐Ð] 20:51, 16 August 2008 (EDT)

Possible Name-Server Issue

On my current computer, doesnt load. I thought the system was down, so i pinged. Ping was successful, and more importantly WWW) did work. Normally a nameserver issu develops from the opposite problem(www is necessary to a successful load).19px--Dark0805(Rant/Contributions) 11:03, 21 August 2008 (EDT)

The PvX server was rebooted several times between 8:25 and 11:00 EDT today. Gcardinal was working on some networking issues, you'd have to ask him for details. – HHHIPPO ‹sysop› 15:26, 21 August 2008 (EDT)

This and This

They are the same thing (the first is just the code for the 2nd link), but the idea is the little search bar in the top right corner of firefox (at least for me), but one for PvX. I think we could easily modify that to make ourselves one, but idk about the copying or implementation. Frvwfr2 btw, logged out to test the search function. ~~ Frvwfr2 16:14, 11 September 2008 (EDT)

New idea, since GWW and GW have one, we could just ask Poke for help. ~~     Frvwfr2     talk    contribs    admin   16:15, 11 September 2008 (EDT)
Poke tells me that it is a feature of a later version of MediaWiki, but idk if that's an option what with all the custom stuff or w/e. ~~     Frvwfr2     talk    contribs    admin   14:45, 14 September 2008 (EDT)
I already asked for a searchplugin for the browser toolbar; Armond replied that it wasn't the best way to search pvx, but to stay tuned for some new feature for searching pvx (but apprently unrelated to what you and I asked for). The xml coding of a searchplugin seems trivial, but I discovered no administrative interest in it. The fact that this server is not running the newest versions of all software is discouraging; I think that using the newest versions of everything couldn't hurt in making this site more hacker-resistant. --War Pig5 18:25, 9 October 2008 (EDT)
Keep in mind that there are a whopping two people with server access, both of whom have busy real lives, and that upgrading software is time-consuming (especially the mediawiki software, since we have so much customized content). ~Wizardboy in comp lab too lazy to actually log in 17:18, 14 October 2008 (EDT)

Is it possible to upload a font. A certain font on my computer is different on pvx.--XCrossfire Godlysig14 20:44, 15 September 2008 (EDT)

Not entirely sure what you're asking, but if you want to change the font on PvX, you can go to Special:Mypage/monobook.css and add body { font-family:"blah"; } But I have a feeling that's not what you're asking, so clarify please. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 18:51, 16 September 2008 (EDT)
i think he's talking about the font families. like Times New Roman and that stuff. CABOSE(LVPoW)"Hey chicka bum bum!" 19:07, 16 September 2008 (EDT)
As far as I know, all fonts are user-side only; that is, I could set the font in my sig to Times New Roman, but if I didn't have Times New Roman installed on my computer, the browser would just revert to the default font. Similarly, I could be a pro and make up my own font family that no one else has and use it for my sig; in that case, my browser would recognize and use it just fine, but everyone else's browsers wouldn't recognize it and revert to their browsers' default fonts instead. --Mafaraxas (talk) 19:33, 16 September 2008 (EDT)
Meh like for example if i created my own font, is it possible to load said font into pvx, and for multiple users to use it and it would display correctly on their browsers.--XCrossfire Godlysig14 20:36, 16 September 2008 (EDT)
As long as the people you care about have the font on their computer, it would work, and there wouldn't be any need for you to upload the font to PvX. I don't think PvX even has the capability for users to upload anything other than images. If you want to get the font to your friends, just upload the font file to a third party file sharing site, then tell your friends to download from there and copypasta into their font folder. --Mafaraxas (talk) 22:13, 16 September 2008 (EDT)
Or just use images or universally-friendly fonts. Cedave bad ツ cedave (contributionsbuildpage) 22:52, 16 September 2008 (EDT)
