I don't really expect this to be passed or know if it will be taken seriously, but recently I've lurked through quite a few users pages and been nearly disgusted at some of the discussions that were ongoing. Figured I'd try and see if anyone else cared. If anyone takes it seriously, i can provide links to user pages where i think that this would apply, as well as some where i think it wouldn't. My own userpage(dispute with readem) would qualify as a violation of this.Bob fregman 03:20, 11 December 2007 (CET)

Uh. How exactly does one be selfish on a wiki? --71.229.204.25 03:23, 11 December 2007 (CET)

I think this policy proposal is honestly somewhat pointless. The swearing bit I think is something that's not good, and the rest covers stuff that gets(or at least, should be) stopped by the sysops anyway. --Edru viransu//QQ about me/sysop 03:30, 11 December 2007 (CET)

Tbh, I think this policy is great; I don't doubt the author's good intentions. However, I don't think that implementing it will ultimately be very effective. It is impossible to legislate a society into behaving a certain way. No matter how strict your rules and laws may be, you cannot order meaningful social change. Consider the case of illegal drug use. My government, and likely most of yours', have passed legislature outlawing drugs like cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines etc. Nonetheless, drug use is popularized, tied to rebellion, and made cool in popular culture. Consider the Sex Pistols, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Snoop Dogg and just about any other US and Euro music artist that has a youthful target audience. Amongst the non-famous of us, illegal drug use is common, even flaunted. To condense my post, I guess I'd sum it up by saying you can't legislate someone into growing up. - Kowal Krowman {{sysop}} 07:21, 12 December 2007 (CET)

Isn't vulgarity what makes WikiDrama go around? Anyway, everyone curses on PvX (which can be considered vulgarity, childish behavior, etc). If you can't deal with the excessive cursing, then PvX usually isn't the site for you. --GoD Holiday Sig 2GuildofMoses 10:05, 22 December 2007 (EST)
I don't think this policy will go well. I fully agree with Krowman's analysis: it is not feasible to turn social expectations into law. Implementing this won't gain anything beyond what sysops can already do at their own discretion. --Scottie bow Scottie_theNerd (argue) 09:30, 2 January 2008 (EST)
