Bugs[]

cropped data[]

Information fields are still cropped on the left - same issue, why was it archived?

Is it maybe browser specific? Using IE6 here.
I have an update, the bug is only in IE6. i tried IE7 and FF2 and it works correctly for those. but everyone using IE6 will have the problem of the left edge of the data being cropped off.
I have tested it on many different browser and it does work without any problems as long as you have IE6 and 800x600 screen resolution.
no, I tried the alternate resolution in IE6 and it has the same bug.
Can you please go to the Help -> About and tell me exact version of your Internet Explorer ? Thank you GCardinal 22:35, 1 May 2007 (CEST)
It shows version 6.0.2800.1106CO
I will try to find a PC with that version, thank you for your bug report and your time. I will fix it as soon as possible. GCardinal 22:42, 1 May 2007 (CEST)
Let me know if I'm just using a horridly outdated version that is too old to even consider development and testing to support. It wouldn't surprise me.

Restrictions[]

You should make it so that it only siplayes for attributes less than 20. Also, with 0 in an attribute, but a skill from that attribute, it shows the range of the skill, not the rank at 0. View these two bugs here. --Frvwfr2 03:18, 2 May 2007 (CEST)

It's not so much a bug as a lack of restrictions. You can pick any attribs you want, any skills you want, any professions you want. Even if that means a W/Me with 16 in Divine favor and 10 Mendings. --Rollerzerris <!--Zerris--> 03:40, 2 May 2007 (CEST)

Name of template[]

Maybe this is just in the preview, but on the barrage/pet team build, every template's name shows as the page name... Also, not really a bug or worth fixing, but if you scroll down slowly enough using a center scroll ball on your mouse and you scroll over a skill picture, the description pops up and slows the scrolling for a bit :D Easily fixed with either patience or moving the mouse. -- Armond WarbladeArmond sig image{{sysop}} 22:08, 3 May 2007 (CEST)

When it comes to build name if you use PvX Convert you can specify name for each build. If build done have name="blabla" it will take article tittel as a name. Its more problem of missing documentation maybe :) When it comes to mouse I will fix it, thx. Final post, going to sleep GCardinal 23:14, 3 May 2007 (CEST)
Found the problem - PvX Convert puts the name in single quotes ('name'). The code only recognizes a name if it's in double quotes ("name"). Please fix, kthx. :P -- Armond WarbladeArmond sig image{{sysop}} 23:37, 3 May 2007 (CEST)
Nice bug track, thx! Fixed. GCardinal 20:48, 5 May 2007 (CEST)

Separate issue with name of the template. It ignores capitals. For example, if you type in "Hello This is an Example" into the Give new build template a name (optional) field, the output gives "hello this is an example" as name. It lower cases everything. Hope it can be fixed asap --Minigrumpysig Grumpy 20:50, 18 May 2007 (CEST)

Template Save Error Page[]

When I click a build and then click save template, it brings up an error page. Try to find the problem and fix it, Thank you. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Superior (contribs) .

Links point to “template.php”, which is missing. Workaround: Click the link, wait for the error page to appear, then edit the URL in your address bar. Replace “www.pvxwiki.com/template.php” with “gw.gamewikis.org/gwtemplate.php” and replace “build” with “data” (example: “http://www.pvxwiki.com/template.php?build=OABTQmCb4BoRFOq4hqKmQRIAA&name=N/any%20Minion%20Master” becomes “http://gw.gamewikis.org/gwtemplate.php?data=OABTQmCb4BoRFOq4hqKmQRIAA&name=N/any%20Minion%20Master”). Alternatively copy&paste the template code directly into your game… --83.135.21.66 23:54, 21 June 2007 (EDT) (gw:User:Hatch)
Alternatively, just open your program files folder, go to GW -> templates -> skills and create a text file with the name you want, then paste the code into there and save it. That accomplishes the same thing, but you don't have to open GW. --Wizardboy777 01:34, 25 June 2007 (EDT)

Besides, these icons are used on both the GWWiki and the GWiki, and since we're link to those pages anyways, all the more reason to use the same icons. Rapta 05:07, 1 May 2007 (CEST)
We used icons provided by ArenaNet under their GuildWars Fan Site program to avoid any more copyright questions. I am so sick of them by now. And they have been all edited and black borders (on some they was original there) was removed to make sure that is wont be any questions about us stealing something from GW or GWw this time GCardinal 06:43, 1 May 2007 (CEST)

How did you program it to automatically add in Expertise Adjusted Values? 'cause that's just cool. Side note though, it's not working perfectly. Check out this build. Mending Touch should be affected by expertise, but it does not show it as such. --Rollerzerris <!--Zerris--> 23:25, 1 May 2007 (CEST)

Based on a quick test here, it appears that you have it programed to count all touch skills as expertise-affected. However, Touch Spells also count. --Rollerzerris <!--Zerris--> 23:31, 1 May 2007 (CEST)
You also got Divine Favor and Fast Casting. I'm gonna test these to see if they're done right. --Rollerzerris <!--Zerris--> 23:38, 1 May 2007 (CEST)
Yep, they're done right. I also notice a complete lack of any restrictions at all (I made a build with 1,016 Strength and 3 primary attributes) but I like that. Now, to see how GW itself likes these templates... --Rollerzerris <!--Zerris--> 23:45, 1 May 2007 (CEST)

Also, your skill bars currently allow > 8 skills, as a note. --Rollerzerris <!--Zerris--> 01:38, 2 May 2007 (CEST)

Thank for your awesome feedback!!! Best beta testing so far :) Really glad you found some time to test it out. I see a few problems from your test like more > 8 skills and that build can have more then 1 Elite skill. I am not quite sure if its needed to hard-code the last one but I will sure fix the first one :) And I will put on some max and min restrictions as well :) Thanks again and welcome to this wiki GCardinal 06:43, 2 May 2007 (CEST)
I say keep the multiple elites and multiple of the same skill bit, as it's cool and Guild Wars will create the template, though you cannot load it. Once you go over 200 attribs, however, it will ignore any allocations afterwards. if you take skills from > 2 professions, it won't load period. same for attributes you can't have (like fire magic on an R/Mo). It also does not allow base attrib levels over 12 or > 8 skills. I think I'd hard-code those restrictions so that you can only create builds that can have templates. --Rollerzerris <!--Zerris--> 12:48, 2 May 2007 (CEST)
I have fun with this on my guild's forums :P It's actually a thing on the BBCode's end - back when we had BBCode enabled on this site, and any other site with BBCode enabled, you could/can easily make any kind of build. What would be really neat would be an option to alert you if you accidentally go over the restrictions - so you could turn it off and make all sorts of joke builds with, what, five copies of Searing Flames, or you could turn it on for normal builds and it would let you know if you accidentally made 11-11-10 attributes or had too many skills/elites. Mad bonus points if we can get it so it dynamically tells you how many attribute points are leftover (so you can mess with the attributes in the preview and it'll tell you how many you have left). -- Armond WarbladeArmond sig image{{Bacon}} 18:48, 2 May 2007 (CEST)
Well, I actually have a template in Guild Wars with 5 Searing Flames. It only loads one of them, though. And given the fact that you people managed to code in Fast Casting and Expertise, attribs doesn't sound hard in comparison. --Rollerzerris <!--Zerris--> 22:44, 2 May 2007 (CEST)

I really like the new Decoder and the preview addition to the Converter. However, could you make it possible to convert builds like this:

<pvxbig> [build prof=monk/eleme healin=12+1+1...3 divine=12+1 prot=3+1][word of healing][glyph of lesser energy][heal party][healing breeze][vigorous spirit][healing whisper][dismiss condition][smite hex][/build] </pvxbig>

And still get a Skills Template? The problem is, if you allow for multiple rune values, it currently refuses to give you a skills template at all. However, since all rune values will have the same skills template, could you convince it to just ignore everything after the first number? --Rollerzerris <!--Zerris--> 12:43, 17 May 2007 (CEST)

Build Variations[]

Those are coming soon, there's something on it in the archive of this page. The other versions will use the tags pvxsmall and pvxmicro.
Still no sign of these codes for me; has it been finished yet, possibly with a different name, or was this project simply dropped? Using the full-size code is a little unwieldy for a simple variant, but I've got no other options at the moment... --GEO-logo Jioruji Derako.> 21:47, 19 June 2007 (EDT)

Search[]

Is there any way to easily add a "search by skill" function? On GWiki, I did it by clicking on the skill image, then "what links here", since every build using that skill had to have the image of it on the page. I found it quite useful though clumsy. Perhaps we could create a more user-friendly version of this search? --Rollerzerris <!--Zerris--> 23:09, 2 May 2007 (CEST)

I don't know if this is what he means, but if not I'll request it myself... the option to type, say,
[Leet Warrior;OQMQEiUkiUkiUkiUkA] and have it actually spit out the build for you in PvX format. sorta like the reverse of creating a template. If not that, at least provide a program to decode the templates to an editable format like PvX Convert. This way, I could copy a template ingame, and post it here and instantly have the build, instead of having to take 30 mins to paste all the skills/attribs and then convert it. --Rollerzerris <!--Zerris--> 08:38, 6 May 2007 (CEST)
